Where I'm from, preteen is generally understood as 11 and 12. My daughter turned 11 in January.

Once you have a preteen, you know what that means--in general, it's the final moments before they completely lose their minds and is often accompanied by very high drama. In the case of daughters, it's also when you, as dad, realize your little girl is turning into a woman faster than her brain.

My daughter broke up with her boyfriend this past weekend.
This is good news because he was a lazy, green-haired, lout.
What surprised me about the breakup is that it was precipitated by a picture on Facebook.
For a 'tech savvy' generation these kids are still pretty 'tech stupid', IMHO.
Anyways, when confronted with the picture the young lad thought it best to make it my daughter's problem by claiming that she wasn't independent enough.
Her reply?
"Not independent enough? How is this for independent - I'm independent of you for the rest of my life."
By the time she was done ripping him a new corn hole he was crying.
Good for her.

My absence did not last very long, and here I am again. I got a nice little PowerShell intro in work, and to make it public I needed the account back.
Some have called it a rage-quit, some have linked it to a discussion I had with a certain member, and for sure some did link it to disappointment over the community - It was neither of them. I felt like I needed to take a step back, and breathe. Maybe it came over a bit wrong, but I never planned to leave this place forever, but I played with the thought of leaving for a while since last December.
I initially wanted to stay away for a longer time, but I'm eager to get this PowerShell thing out, so at least my account is now back online, even though I try to stay low profile and focus on other things.
Edit: I just realized that I won the second prize of March's "Everything else" Article competition, and my Rep bursted through to Platinum level - Now where do I store these... "personal files"?
