...decided to make MSDN downloads unresumable? If a 4GB download takes all day I'm fine with that, but does it have to start from the beginning if the connection so much as hiccups? Jeez!
And where's their download manager gone? The help claims it allows resume but it never appears anymore.

What is it you're trying to download? I often find the same things on other sections of the MS site which are much faster, then I can use my MSDN serial key

Download managers don't work without support for resume. That's the point.
However I just came across a service which claims they don't need the source to have resume functionality, I'm going to try that tomorrow.

There are plenty of download managers that have support for resume. In fact, which download manager does not support resume? It's not much of a manager if you can't manage your downloads.

I (and others) have often asked Chris for a proper API, but time/resource restrictions meant Chris never really made anything available for that. I've often heard from others than something's in the works but have no idea if that's true and if so when that'll be available.

Not yet. You have to scrape the website and lot of articles are available inside CP using this way.
