Visitors can only get out of the smaller door one at a time, so learners can hack and stab at single targets, rather than get all panicky when lots come at once.

The telly that is.
After near killing myself getting the brute off the wall on my own, I lay it on the floor, whipped the back off and started to look / poke around.
Don't see any swollen capacitors, noticed a sticker with the Test Point (Va and Vs) voltage readings and these two main ones should be 55 and 209 volts. Jagging them with my test meter they are only 15V and 1.1. Disconnecting the cables off to the inverters and the other boards and rechecking, they are still the same.
Poking around the board (without a schematic), I can see the 240vac coming in, find it dropping down to 130vac. can find the 5V off to the other boards. I'm guessing then it is the psu card that is pooped, I tried adjusting the posts that trim the Va and Vs levels, but this made next to no difference.
Ordered a new one at £79, so hopefully that will be it. I am away to remove this board to see if there is any signs of damage underneath to try and work out if it can be repaired easily by a component swap, if I see anything obvious.
I have had no lack locating a schematic or service manual, so my google-fu must be off today.
It is a PS63C7000yk, and the PSU board is a BN44-00334A J30 REV1.1 if anyone wants something to do............

Is it worth it? With the price of a new LED backlit screen and the electricity savings that can be made it will most probably pay for itself in a few years.
For £79 you probably could have bought a whole new TV anyway.

Getting spare parts delivered will take just as long; and Dave's billable rate offshore almost certainly makes yours look cheap.

But the probability to have a certain spare part there is bigger, so you get it working sooner, then the new piece delivered replaces the used one. In case of an emergency and that concrete piece is needed... you know where it is.

That's for sure, but I guess there is not so much to do there when "work day" ends. I suppose he is doing it in spare time, trying to repair something, might be less boring than re-read the same book for 10th time or stare the wall since there is no TV.

I've fixed a few of these.
They don't make anything like they used to. Even people!
There are tube tv sets crawling around everywhere still.
And we used to just go to the moon on tubes.

My first FCC license exam covered "valves" on one or two questions, and at school we had a room-sized analog computer running on triodes. It was a rare day when all amplifiers were up and running.

Yes I did! all the way along the back of the panel, just in case there was a loose connector or something... 
I also gave the 2 relays on the power board a technical tap, just in case the contacts were stuck.
I did more searching and found a thread that the guy was reporting the same duff Vs and Va voltages and that confirms a failed main PSU board. Time will tell when the new one arrives.

It's funny how quickly videos, photos and links float around social media. Just encountered www.pielinks.com on facebook. I must say it does sound interesting and looks like a good initiative to help move idea to invention. But you never know..
