I bike every day as well. It's 34km round trip, but I couldn't imagine having to drive it. I would likely wind up dead from a stroke after all the road rage.

Just because you do plenty of exercise, don't think that compensates completely for sitting 8 hours a day! It does help of course, but you need to get up, take a walk. Work standing some of the time, and sitting at other times. Change things around a bit.
A bad back is pretty minor compared to some of the things you can get by sitting all day... like SO many of us do!

I'm 47, and don't drive. In spite of programming for over 20 years, I've just begun developing back problems in the last 3 or so (due to a fall-related coccyx injury). I put it down to lots of walking, cycling and casual exercise, integrated into daily life.

Cycling does very little to work your back muscles, or any of your core muscles at all. Great for the legs and cardio in general, but a more comprehensive workout routine will go much farther in strengthening your core and addressing back problems.

Same here from a size 32 waist to 34, pure muscle.

also, look at your vehicle that you ride in or on.
A Walk is good but also just regular exercise. I play wackyball 3-4 times a week. (Racquetball) But pick something that doesn't feel like exercise to you.

What I mean with the ride in or on. Is I had a vehicle that after the 20 minute drive to work. I could not walk. I thought it was my back. get a new to me used vehicle and suddenly back is fine. Turns out it was the seat in the car that just beat on me. Might have been the suspension, or the seat or something. I never did get it adjusted right.
