No doubt he has but that doesn't make him a spokesperson for the entire community.
I, for one, do not want him speaking for me.
He makes accusations without giving reference to the offending remarks. Why not post a link so we can all make up our own minds if the answer deserved to be down voted.
I suspect it was his answer and he is offended that someone didn't bow down to his superior knowledge, but I have no way of knowing because he chose to decide for us all what is abusive voting.
I would like to make up my own mind after examining the question and answer. Perhaps I would like to down vote it also?

did you vote my post as abuse? Someone just voted my post as abuse right before you posted your reply to me.

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean that they aren't out to get you.
In answer to your question, no I didn't vote your post as abuse. That would mean that I gave a crap about what you posted.
In case you haven't noticed I don't give a sh*t about my reputation here, nor do I care about yours.

Well, Khun James, I must say, with all due respect, that surely you cannot deny that the right to rant is an inalienable liberty of the Lounge arising from ... Hail Satan ! ... its diabolical endowment as an on-going demolition-derby of egos and intellects.

Perhaps if he linked to the question and answer I would agree with him. Then again I might decide to down vote the answer also?
<rant>
He should not pretend to know how I would react to the answer. I do not want him, or anyone else, deciding what is an appropriate vote.
People are so involved with their reputation here that they take offense to anyone who disagrees with them.
The thing that should be clear is that we are all damaged units here. If we really had lives to live we would be interacting with real people and not being offended by what anyone here has to say.

Send me a link of an answer downvoted and I'll look into it.
[Update: It's not one person, there doesn't seem to be anything malicious. Users are simply stating their opinion]
cheers

This kind of arrogant assumption of ownership, and claims of being the only creative force behind something, only happens in workplaces where there are pig-ignorant people who think only of themselves, and never of their colleagues or the company.
i.e. everywhere.

Arduino is open-source hardware: the Arduino hardware reference designs are distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike 2.5 license and are available on the Arduino Web site. Layout and production files for some versions of the Arduino hardware are also available. The source code for the IDE is available and released under the GNU General Public License, version 2. [^]
So yes, Open Source. In the article you linked Massimo does refer to "royalties", but I guess those refer to the Arduino brand. That means you are free to assemble and even sell your own boards based on the published designs, so long you don't call them "Arduino" – if you want to, then license the brand.
If we are to believe Massimo's account, Gianluca cheated to get exclusive control of the brand in Italy, and is now trying to assert his company as the "true" steward of the platform. Those are legal and political issues, but they don't change the terms of whatever work has been already published.

Correct. However those waiting for the Tre and other new products may be affected by this.
For new users the 2 websites which look very alike are sure to cause heaps of confusion. All this will surely adversely impinge on this otherwise great endeavour.

I think hate is too strong of a word. Do I feel they are overpaid, incompetent, in-the-pocket-of-big-business, worthless scum of the earth?
Well, then, absolutely!

Apparently I need Administrator Permissions from myself to delete a folder I created.
WHY? WHY WINDOWS? WHY? WHY? WHY?
And no, the folder was not locked by any other process. I checked with several tools!
I get this ALL THE TIME! It makes me want to switch to Linux for good and have Win-woes in a VM for certain things (like .NET dev).

So give yourself permission, what's the issue? It's not like Linux never asks you to give yourself permission, in fact it does it all the damn time.

The issue is that doing so doesn't work!
Here's what happens:
1. I try to delete a file/folder
2. Windows says I need Administrator permission
3. I click confirm to do so
4. Windows says I need permissions from myself
5. I click confirm
6. Go to 4
Using the 'apply to all' checkbox has no effect.

Sounds like fun. Have you tried deleting it from cmd running as admin?

Yep. Permission Denied. A reboot didn't work either. I finally went into an MSys2 Bash shell and used rm to remove it. That finally worked.

what kind of file is it? Kill the process that is using the file, if possible. Then kill the file.
|
|

That doesn't always work. I've had the same problem myself, usually when I've opened a file in the directory from another computer -- it comes up as "Access is denied". The same thing might happen if you run a file as a different user on the same machine (in fact, I'm pretty sure it did, once).
Even after you've closed the file on the other machine, the lock sometimes persists.
Unlocker handles this on Weven ("delete on next boot", which means I'm stuck with it for six months or so), but it's not supported for W8.
Pissing about with permissions on W8 is just too much trouble, so you can either literally "W8" to see if the system will ever unlock it, or boot with a Linux stick, and delete it from there.
[edit]
I forgot to mention that WinRar has caused this at least once, on W8. It appears to lock the directory of the first file it opens -- but it does release it, a while after you close WinRar.

Did you create the folder in a "protected" area (e.g. Program Files)?
