It starts with annoying messages of, "Restart to install updates", for at least 3 weeks like everything was just perfect.
Finally started installation, restarted and starting annoying me with messages of, "We couldn't install updates, undoing changes". This message kept showing for 10 minutes. Now same back to the point where it all began and Windows has started annoying me with the messages of, "Restart to install updates".
The sh*t I complain about

I got tired getting those messages so I just turned the automatic updates off. lol
|

...and that, ladies and gentlemen, is how known exploits still get machines pwned months, even years, after patches are released.

That's the approach I'm taking with a project I've started, but it's a bit of a hybrid. I've developed the back-end server and the REST API's, including unit tests, then I'm developing the desktop app for prototyping the UI elements and just being able to play with it. When I'm done, the web part will use the exact same REST API's, it'll just basically be UI development for the web part with some simple jQuery stuff for the REST calls.

Laptop without mouse is frustrating
Nothing prevents you from buying another one while away on the road. Even the dollar stores carry them. Even those will be better than any trackpad I've come across.

I found another way. There is a Wen desktop PC sitting here with a decent screen, full-size keyboard and mouse. I just had to finagle the network/firewall settings to get rdp to work!  rdp is better than the trackpad!

Sweet - I live by RDP.
The machine on my desk is an Intel NUC that's driving my keyboard, mouse, 4K 40" TV and 2 24" monitors. All the VMs I work with every day are running on another (headless) machine, and it's pretty cool to be able to RDP into any of them with that amount of screen real-estate. Including machines at the office, which themselves are running rather low-resolution displays.

For some reason my work laptop does not allow RDP onto it when the laptop is connected via VPN.
When I work from home I can't take advantage of the two 27" 144hz monitors that I use for my home PC. It's painful.

I'd rather stay home and watch it on TV. I only do it for the wife...her team, her family.
Truth: It wasn't that easy. It required me handcrafting several views for the thing to work properly. It really is a nice tool with a lot of potential, I'm just not ready to buy into the concept of creating a complete lob application with it. I'd rather use it for what we know it's good for (reporting and analysis) and sell that as a separate product.
