I know that happens. The people are far more interesting. They are not really used to the temperatures, don't have proper clothing and don't know at all what to do when they have to get into the car and drive.

I believe we need some statistics on how cold it can be and still fly.

The colder it gets, the more dense the air gets so should become easier to create lift (more than the extra friction with a good wing design.)
Eventually the gasses in the air would liquefy, at which point would be advantageous to move to a submarine.
And beyond that solidify, a tunnel borer would then be a logical choice.

The problems may not come from the air density. Instead, the lithium polymere batteries may catch a cold. I will keep them in the car until I need them and after that they will warm up as they are discharged. It still could be that the helicopter is a little slower than usual today.

I'm not saying you should be debugging on a Sunday afternoon, but you should certainly not go out in the snow and cold. Especially since you'll be holding a remote controller preventing you from making your hands into fists and keeping them in your pockets where they have a chance of not freezing off.

Yes, there is indeed something you can help me with. The highway was full with cars with yellow license plates and 'NL' in a blue field. Until some scrap gets into the tracks, or I get the bill for repairing the road from the highway dept. And a battle tank with 65 tons is not exactly a racing car. If it must be something that gulps down a bathtub full of fuel just to start the engine, I would prefer a real helicopter.

Sounds like an automatic conversion issue somewhere (unsigned int to int, or something). Good luck!

Thanks, it must be something like that. The shader was written with HLSL (High Level Shading Language) Ver. 2, the new compiler wants at least Ver. 4. It's a more complex shader that does not only does the usual transformations and texture mapping. It also does the entire animation for the particles in the particle system.
Tomorrow ater work I'm going to take it apart and then I will try to find out which part goes wrong. As it looks now, the particles are rendered, but appear nowhere in sight. The whole thing is going to be some work. The next step will be to get the UI working again.
