Imagine a three year old, after her first lesson with a recorder trying to play "Three Blind Mice". That's bad. That's bad enough that you go to the pub and leave the kid in the car with the recorder.
Now imagine a grown man doing the same with a much more complicated song.

My son wanted to learn the saxophone, I love sax music, what a disaster I had to leave the house when he started practicing I didn't know you could get such horrible noises from a musical instrument.
Luckily he had the attention span of a gnat and the sax soon found a hiding place in the back of the wardrobe.

Perhaps a good use for all the videos of them people have taken.

My kids' middle school (they've been playing for 3 or 4 years) instructor didn't believe in tuning, ever, despite my pleading. Oh the awfulness of their performances, cheese grater for the ears.

Ah yes, the applaud part, my wife would chastise me for shaking my head as I was clapping. Thing is, my kid, and I imagine several others, actually had pretty good tone, it was a shame.

I once gave recorder lessons to a developmentally-disabled grade-schooler (and her mother, so she could help the girl practice during the week.) Even after a few lessons, she played a lot better than this guy!

So as you might recall my soakaway is clogged, and not having access to dynamite (good tip USians, it would have been amusing  ) and a price for a new one being dug being 5000 euros (yes, this is France) I went for a complete replacement of the septic tank with a micro station: A propos la micro-station WPL Diamond DMS - solutions eau et assainissement[^]
Lots of vanes and stuff inside, but importantly and air pump that causes aerobic bacteria action, resulting in effluent so clean it can go straight into a river, or in my case on the garden to water it. And it costs 5k euros too.
So bargain methinks.

It is an interesting procedure, putting in the new tank.
