When in High School, a gang in our class had a home alone New Year's party, but I'll say we were reasonably well behaved. For firing off the rockets, we set bottles firmly into the snow as a launch ramp and moved away to safe distance after the fuse was lit.
When I lit my biggest rocket, it went straight into the air, hit a 22 kV power line, bounced right back and made its grand explosion right in front of the neighbour's living room panorama window, where the couple were standing looking out. Their reaction was what I'd call 'noteworthy'.
I was very happy that they never demanded to know who was responsible for that rocket launch. And really: I didn't feel guilty. I had taken all standard precautions, and I certainly was not the one deciciding to run that power line right there.

Accidents do happen. They probably did not assume that the missile attack was on purpose.
The rockets I wrote about were a little bigger.[^] And what a bang they did make, not that I got to see anything because I was staring at a radar screen when they were on their way.

I once sent a homemade D20 bottle rocket through the eves of the house by accident/stupidity. Only took 2m to build up enough speed to punch out a perfectly round hole complete with nipple from the stick through the cement sheeting. 
We laughed about it till we cried the other day - enough years had passed that dad wouldn't get the look of death from mum for finding such a stupid act so funny.
I've still got the nearly 20 year old newspaper clips from when people thought our massively overpowered bottle-rockets were UFOs. You shouldv'e seen the way those endburners got up and boogied when the black powder ran out and the double-base shotgun reloading-powder started to provide the thrust!!

Hahaha - I've still got an Estes Executioner and pack of D12s waiting for assembly (for the past 5 years!)
I used to scratch-build both the motors and the airframes. I could start in the morning and fly in the arvo, as long as I'd rolled the motor tubes the day before and let em dry. The one time I made a 3 stage A-10 taking model, it kicked over sideways during the 1st --> 2nd stage separation. Last seen flying towards the unfinished houses at over 800kmh. 
It was soo worth it!

Was it one with the tiny Cox motors? Free flight models usually had very small motors and less than a minute of fuel, so that it does not get too far away.
As to your question:
1) I don't like multicopters.
2) I had a new T-Rex 500X under the tree, but it's not assembled yet.
3) The weather not good enough to go flying with my other helicopters.
3) I still have work to do on my Huey, so the bad weather was quite ok. At the moment I'm arming it.[^]
This is still a prototype, put together from test prints of the parts. I have designed the parts in Blender and printed them on my 3D printer. The camera is unvorgiving. I should use more sandpaper on the final version.

8 years old was a very long time ago but I do remember it disappeared in a manner that didn't give much hope of ever getting it back over some tall trees that edged the accessible park.

I'm highly disappointed. When I was a kid in the 1960s, Sony was more or less built by introducing new technology to the world. Transistor radios, the Sony walkman, some very good quality audio equipment (aka "Stereo"), tape recorders, video devices, etc.
Over the years, Sony has become a major player in the evil empire. They are one of the main supporters of DRM, spyware, stupid copyright laws; They build root kits into their software. Google's motto is "don't be evil", apparently derived by looking at the actions of Sony, who seems to be at the forefront of all of the evil things on the internet.
I bought my last Sony product more than a decade ago.
I'm retired. There's a nap for that...

I expect they - all the big names in the business - are all much of a muchness in that regard. Anyone wants to be that virtuous, they're probably best off not buying a TV at all...

Sony used to be the best TV's (back in the days of the big glass tubes), and most of their high-end stuff was made in Japan including the board, PSU & wiring - it was quality.
Now just like pretty much everyone else they just put a Samsung LCD panel in a Chinese box with a Chinese circuit board + PSU and just plug the already fitted cables together. The only thing they still do a bit better is the translations of the user manual.

Sony's turn to the dark side has a reasonably sharply delineated time frame.
Their early game console, unlike everything else they made up to that time, often would magically die in about a year.
By then, the owner had invested in a number of their game cartridges. Rather than lose the much large investment in the cartridges, they bought another console. And another

Don't forget the removal of features. My folks have a 3D Sony TV. There was a section in the menu that let you view sample 3D videos, streaming from the net. After less than 2 years, that was gone, after a software update. Think you can roll back to a previous version?
A coworker had his Sony TV die on him, of course, a few days after the warranty ran out. All that was needed to get it fixed was to replace some small 8$ chip. The chip was no longer available. He had to trash the TV.
I also remember something about being able to run some Linux distributions being sold as a feature of the PS3 (2?) console. They removed that as soon as people found some flaw that let them use that feature to copy discs (or some other excuse I'm forgetting the details of).
Don't forget how the PlayStation Network, a service people pay for, got repeatedly hacked a few years ago, until they took it offline for over a full month. Then the supposed China hack, in which they got TBs worth of data exfiltrated over the course of months.
If someone wants to buy a Sony product, I won't keep them from it, but I, too, have made my last Sony purchase well over a decade ago.

I have started a side project that I am trying to get some buzz about. It is going to be open source so hopefully people besides me will be working on it at some point. The website will be a place for people with autism to practice their verbal and written communication skills. The link is to my Facebook page where I give status updates and ask people questions.
