Binge watched Cobra Kai[^] last night. Hadn't intended to - thought I'd watch the first episode to see how bad it could be but I was nicely surprised that it was bloody good. It was also nice that all of the locations are close by and familiar. Well worth a watch - 10 20 minute episodes with most of the original characters all growed up. 
Keep your friends close. Keep Kill your enemies closer.

I find that IMDB ratings very often are quite accurate. And 9.1 certainly is fine.

I've watched them twice now; each of the past 2 weekends. My favorite scene is the first episode at the end when Sirius plays. I like Johnny's character and his lines. Plus, I'm a sucker for a comeback story. Unfortunately, the second season won't be around until 2019.

Yesterday, while playing support rep roulette, I learned:
"I thank you very much for trying to help me, maybe we should contact the next level of support."
instead of
"Listen you stupid elephant, let me talk to someone with an IQ higher than their age!"
We are up and running. 
Actually, the rep spoke very good English, was knowledgeable and was trying very hard to help, just ran out of scripts. I did thank her and her boss.
If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

Yeah, its especially nice when you know more about the app you're getting support on than the vendor who wrote the damn thing.

It may be more productive but much less satisfying. I did phone support for a while in the early 90's, one of the most under appreciated jobs it is possible to have.
I think I read it in Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land "I always answer the phone as it may be an opportunity to be rude to someone" I like that sentiment.

Start the day, a nice work-remote day.
My main box makes rhythmic whining sound and won't boot.
Since I have to restart a remote server before 5:00 AM (local time), I rush off to living room and connect through PC/TV Combo to RDT into the server.
Going through the usual, instead of taking a few seconds after I shut down the running applications, Windows Server decides to spend five minutes "loading configuration" - ? ? ? ? .
Nervousness intensifies. At last, it does finally stop, bu not until stress levels of are quite high: that server controls much of the companies infrastructure.
It was, however, all done before 6:00.
Now, the desktop that whines. I pulled the plug and made coffee. Ate a fortune cookie. Ate a Trader Joe's Dunker, and went back to the box. On my mind, the recent spate of thunder storms and several brief blackouts. Two surge protectors in series and a UPS aren't enough?
Side cover removed. Wires jiggled. Reconnect power.
It Boots! I'm a bit afraid to turn it off, but I think it's a very good time to either image the drive, or clone it. But first, grab off all the latest data since there's always the chance it may not boot, again, and stay that way.
Stressful mornings are not only unpleasant, they're exhausting.

Probably good to have something to liven up your Friday - it's the one day of the week when I pray for a little chaos, otherwise the afternoon just draaaaaaaagggggggggggggggssssssssssssssss.

So far, I'm coping the entire D: drive to an external drive - which never happens fast enough.
Meanwhile I searched through my stuff, and I'm at least a third generation pack-rat, and found a spare 1TB WD Green - unused if I recall, in a place I forgot I even had. Although slow, it does offer me the opportunity to clone C:, so I'll likely do so.
However - although I agree it's good to have things liven up one's day - that can be done without causing excessive stress. Now, I'll be juggling the backup of one system and trying to (at least appear to be) working - so I'll be going between rooms for hours. Wherever I go I'll have the other on my mind.
And my alert levels will start to drift; I've been working for nearly four hours, already, and it's only a quarter after nine.

Believe me, they do, and at the worst possible moment.  Nevertheless, I'd rather pay a bit of extra money to the disk drive manufacturers than a lot of extra money to the cardiologist...

Actually, I think the fortune cookie and Dunker is what caused the exhaustion, and probably added to the physical stress as well.

Oh that explain the Laurel / Yanny thing I been hearing about. At the pitch of the original I hear Laurel as the pitch increases Yanny, I have more pronounced low end hearing.

That's a bit weird. The first time it played I heard "Yorel", now I can "pick" which one I want to hear. That's confusing - it's two sounds at the same time for me.
