I have to disagree. A class, and therefore it's assembly, should do one thing and one thing only. if you're not segregating your functionality across multiple assemblies, then you probably have a few different problems.

For one, It's harder to share code across apps. Consider a DAL assembly. it has one purpose - work on the DB. Multiple apps can use the same DAL assembly. Separating it into its own assembly mean greater code reuse.

And, as others have said, it's a whole lot easier to update a small assembly than a large boated EXE.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
Everything makes sense in someone's mind.
