I also thought that my new icon meant I'd be able to delete his posts, but I can't so I'm not sure why I have the icon.

My guess is CM is planning to give you those rights but is still in the process of implementing them.
According to the description you should be able to edit / remove / ... articles tho

Oh, I did, but those forums aren't the most frequented, so it might take a few days before there are enough votes to remove the posts, and I thought I might speed up things a tiny bit if I mention it here.
Actually, there should also be a voting button to remove user, but I'm afraid it would be quite misused...

There is a vote to remove user button on the profile page. It takes 5 votes to do so, and (assuming Maunder uploaded the change sometime in the last two days) is only available to silver or higher members.
fat_boy's lost several accounts due to it over his refusal to stop posting global warming stuff to the lounge, (although his most recent account killing was by CM for conduct unbecoming). If this is abuse is eye of the beholder.

"Report Member" even has a choice of "Abusive / Troll" or "Spammer".

It's a fairly recent feature. Maybe a month or two old, and was never aggressively advertised; which considering that it launched without sockpuppet abuse protection is probably a good thing.

The way I see it, if there aren't enough users seeing the post to remove the spammer, the spammer isn't a big enough problem to warrant the attention of more members and and Scooby gang. My recommendation is to use the functionality to report spammers on their member page (as somebody mentioned). If the spammer problem increases, so will the community awareness of the problem, and they should vote the spammer into oblivion. In theory, it should be self-regulating.

The spammer is getting an elevated link count for his blackhat SEO even if CP users aren't seeing his message. In either case he needs stomped hard and fast.

His blackhat SEO is only a problem for CP if the number of links on CP mucks things up for users or the number of links grows so much that it messes with CP's SEO. The bar is so low on deleting these posts/users and these posts are so infrequent, it should be taken care of.

I just gave a rather low vote on an article. I types a whole story in the [My vote of x] box, only to NOT see my comment when I clicked 'vote'. Typed the whole story over again in the regular message section.
Quite an annoying bug which I have seen before...
It's an OO world.

Hi I set up a Technical Blog some time ago, imported one post.
I've since reorganised the site and want to delete the existing technical blog, and start importing posts correctly.
The Instructions in the Technical Blogs FAQ don't work for me,
specifically there is no Modify or Delete link that I can see anywhere.
Am I missing something?
