Every now and then a new article is submitted to a contest that has finished a long time ago. Shouldn't this be prevented? Updates of course should be allowed but why allow completely new articles?
For example Azure Environment Config. using ARM and PowerShell

Adding insult to injury, my normal solution for dealing with unwanted crap on a webpage (like cancerous popovers) won't easily work to kill it.
The fact that the stupid popup is above the user name but goes away the moment you mouse off the name means I can't select it (by mousing over) to create a rule for my AdWebsiteMisfeatureBlocker.

OK, fair enough.
However.
The popups won't appear until you hover over an author's name for a second. I've tried to make it polite.
The reason I want the popups is because I want to make it, by default, easy for everyone to see who they are talking to. I get that it could be annoying if you hover your mouse over a name on the right hand side of a forum. However, I want to make it simple for those interacting in the forums to "see" who they are talking to. Anonymity or treating others in a forum like they aren't actually real people is the bane of the online experience.
I'm open to suggestions.

What was wrong with the old on by default but we can turn it off if we don't want it.
Please don't make me have to start up browser debugging rules to figure out how to identify the offending div to make an adblock rule the hard way.

I don't want another Microsoft Word where there are a million options and no one knows what they do.
Regardless, I'll schedule for the checkbox to be added back. However, I am curious as to how it's actually triggered given the pause-wait that's needed.

Since it seemed to be really interesting, I tried to download the sources to investigate it, but I did not succeed. I got the following message (the look and feel simulated a command prompt):
Ticket: (No ticket provided - possible an error in error-system)
Error: An error occurred in this page. The error has been recorded and the site administrator informed.
Abort, Retry, Fail?
So did I fail something or is this a bug?

Dear Team,
For some reason I am not able to post any message in 'General Indian Topics' even replies. No sooner I post a message than it disappears with an automatic text 'Message Removed'.
I don't know if it is because I have been little inactive for a while and hence email needs verification or something like that. Any clues?
Or anything related to posting IP? Since I am logged on from work computer the ip address resolves to the location as California (USA).

Probably, your messages have been picked up by the anti-spam system and sent to moderation - which requires a human to review and approve / reject the content.
If they do not contain spam or abuse, then they should be approved pretty quickly - though slower at present than normal due to the holiday season.
If they do, then expect your account to close equally quickly!

text is purely a placeholder till a moderation queue is processed? If that is the case would it be more user-friendly to have a contextual message like 'Message en-queued for moderation' (Perhaps similar to Wordpress Comment Moderation)

I just found out from my profile (Messages Posted) there is a text called
Not publicly visible
Now the tricky situation here is,how to edit the message? At least till moderation the message should at least be visible to the owner for any editing right?

Nope.
Once you press post, that's it until it becomes publicly available: otherwise spammers could just edit and edit until they get it through without moderation.
And you would not believe how much cr@p a spam farm can generate in an hour!

I am not able to upvote/downvote any messages. I was able to do that some days back.
Even after confirming my email address, i am not able to upvote/downvote.
