No, you can't change a cell's style that easily in VB.NET 2003. You have to derive a class from DataGridTextBoxColumn, override the paint-method and do the drawing yourself.

Hi there,
I have a requirement to add a custom signing object to a Microsft Word Document using .Net. The object should always manifest itself as a picture, i.e. wen u open or print the document, u see a picture in this case a signature. If an add-in that I have to develop is installed on the same machine, right clicking on the object should also show my custom menus in the popup menu.
So my challenges are, how to create the custom object in .net (how can i extend the Image/Bitmap Class and add my own methods properties and evends) and how do I add this custom object and menu to Word?
I appreciate any pointers in any direction that myt be helpful.

Your app is broken. I assume some top level code is trapping an exception as it dies, or some code is triggering that closes it. Hard to say, based on the info you provided.

In your .Net IDE, goto the Exceptions Screen (somewhere under Debug and Exceptions... I think in 2003) and select the option to break on all Thrown and Unhandled errors, the application will break into the IDE everytime an error happens. That will actually help you to see the actual error that is happening and where it happens. I used to encounter that problem a lot in VB6 though not in .Net.
Hope you get it right.

I cant say actualy. My Application have many Forms sometimes it happens on this Form sometimes it doesnt. i have messed arround with my Project settings i Supposed i cant event debug, the Green Button in Visual Studio is always disabled , the only option i have is to "Start without Debuging" How can i enable theGreen Button again, then like that i will be able to debug and see the Error.

Hi,
I am developing a project using Vb6.0 and MS-SQL server.
I am opening word and excel file through my software with the help of Web browser control.
I want to disable the Cut, copy, paste, Insert, delete menu options as well as Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X, Ctrl+V key board events, during runtime.
Please help me to solve the above problem.

You can disable the key board events in Key press event.
Comming to menu's I even tried to disable the menus some time back, but no luck.
It seams it cannot be done.
Let me know if you are successful in doing it.

I receive the following error message when trying to do some simple remoting tasks on my computer. Can anybody tell the meaning of this message and, if any, suggest a solution please?

Suppose I have an other program (I didnt compile), is a chat.
I want to be able to read the chat from this other program, to push buttons, to write something in certain textbox, to push the button when alert popup appears.
I dont know in witch language this chat program was developed.
There are methods for performing this kind of actions to other program forms?

an other thing: what happens if I try to de-compile this program with Reflector or Anakrino if is not written in VB or C# (witch of course I'm not sure...). Would it be really useful or I can write my program even without decompiling the chat?

If you can get a handle to the textbox/button in the other form, you can send them messages. This is dodgy, but it can be made to work, until they come out with a new version, then all bets are off ( but it will still probably work )

You can iterate over top level windows, or find a window at a point, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms633558(VS.85).aspx[^]. If you iterate over top level windows, you can use GetWindowText to find the one you want. These are all functions you will need to p/invoke.

1) Is it possible to develop a proxy mail server in .NET or i have use multi language support.
2) How to start for it, Actually i have no idea regarding the same, Need a basic idea about it.

1 - I'm sure you can do it in .NET. If anyting .NET has better support for networked stuff than C++ does, out of the box
2 - create a new project, I guess. If you have absolutely no idea how this thing will work, how do you hope to write it ? I think you need to do some more research first.

hi there good day to all the subscriber, i'd like to ask and give favor to every coder about my own project in my company, i am building a sql scratchpad inside the companies application,from where it connects directly to oracle 9i,where they can select update and delete record/s, a scratchpad contain a textbox also and a combobox that displays companies database, and also a gridview where the sql statement wil display after the execution.its a client server we all know, can anyone help me about this?can someone send me a short code so that i have the ideas.?

Sounds like you want to execute arbitrary SQL code, which is really very straightforward, you just specify the SQL to the right classes in the Oracle SQL area, and execute it.
I don't have any examples b/c I don't use oracle, but I'm sure google does.

I need to start using VB.net. Can anyome tell me where to start? I have Visual Studio 2005 installed, but it seems a bot overwhelming I must admit. Any links to tutorials for beginners will be appreciated.
I also have a recent VB6 project that I need to upgrade to VB.net. Is there a quick way to do this?

There is an upgrade tool, but it's not very good. This is b/c Microsoft made a choice and made VB.NET correct te horrors of VB6 instead of trying to be reverse compatible. The one concession they made is all the stuff in the VisualBasic namespace. You may use this early on, but wean yourself from it ASAP. it's all bad.
You need to buy a beginners book and regard that you're learning a new language. VB6 has been dead for 6 years, I suggest you throw yourself at this, b/c you're very late to the party.
