While I think that Oracle are a bunch of unredeemable toerags, they may actually have a case here.
I remember using feature phones with Java Micro Edition (or whatever it was called). Android destroyed that market (although had it not been Android something would have). Similarly it was used on embedded devices.
Google could have got away with it, but the fact is they did lift Java as the basis of their platform, allegedly involving 1000's of lines of code, bytecode organisation, etc. If they hadn't done that, I suspect Java would still have entered into demise in this area, as better alternatives exist, but I can see how they can argue that millions of devices used to run Java, and since Android almost noone is.
Now, having (probably for the first time in my life) defended Oracle on something, I think I'd better go and wash my mouth of with soap - gotta be better than the foul aftertaste that has left.

The thing to remember is that J2ME sucked elephant turds so badly that if Google had built Android around C#, or Go, or something else J2ME would be just as dead today.

I never claimed J2ME was good. I totally agree, but nonetheless, if Google copied code (as alleged in the article) as well as APIs they are bang to rights, and left themselves open for the claim. Pretty stupid all round, no one comes out glowingly from this.

So, update your quaint little saying,

to
"Nothing's definite except data collection, death and taxes..."
Now, your expectations are set, jelled, hardened and corroded the proper way.

Unfortunately, it's not actually available for the original specs of the PI, both the A and the B model.
MS's offering is only available for the RasPi 2.
I'd actually vaguely considered giving it a whirl, including a purchase of the new model, but saw an install guide and was left a little under-whelmed by the actual features available.

The final 'welcome screen' is shown at a touch after the 6m20s mark.
That is to say - I've been lead to believe that it doesn't present the user with a desktop or even a tablet version of the OS, but instead offers an environment for the IOT. You still need to code and cross-compile code on a desktop for the device.
Raspian on the other hand is a free (as in money and at least in the pre-release version, personal details) and desktop-based OS. I've used it in the past to run Code::Blocks to write, build and run native apps. The unfortunate thing was that the PI built a trivial project of about 1kloc of user code in less time than VS2010 built the exact same project while running on a Q8400 Core 2 Quad. Code::Blocks on the Q8400 killed them both, badly.
I'm certainly not saying it's a bad thing - just that developers should be aware of the differences before they plonk down the $35 just to get a PI2 with the aim of getting a copy of Windows onto it.

The fact that there are 10 zillion rPI's out there but virtually no one knows what a BBone is might just possibly have something to do with what MS decided to launch on.
