I am a .NET architect/developer based in London working mostly on financial trading systems. My love of computers started at an early age with BASIC on a 3KB VIC20 and progressed onto a 32KB BBC Micro using BASIC and 6502 assembly language. From there I moved on to the blisteringly fast Acorn Archimedes using BASIC and ARM assembly.

I started developing with C++ since 1990, where it was introduced to me in my first year studying for a Computer Science degree at the University of Nottingham. I started professionally with Visual C++ version 1.51 in 1993.

I moved over to C# and .NET in early 2004 after a long period of denial that anything could improve upon C++.

Recently I did a bit of work in my old language of C++ and I now realise that frankly, it's a total pain in the arse.

Started programming in high school, '76.
In college, I had an issue with a mechanical engineering instructor, and the only way I could guarantee not having him again was to go into computers. I went into computers.

Peejay Adams is a software architect and developer from the UK. He's been banging out code for about 20 years during which time he's mostly, but by no means exclusively, worked in C, C# and SQLServer.

Nnamdi was born in 1986, all his life he has been into anything electrical (starting with plug sockets as soon as he could crawl) from there it moved onto dismantelling things to see what they looked like on the inside. Eventually this interest moved on to computers.

Started simple, with HTML, and moved on to JS. Then moved onto C#, he's all over the shop, doing programming(ish) type things, web designing [My Website] and graphics, although he cant draw to save his life.

He likes to use his computer, socialise with his mates, and laugh at his mates as they all try to apply for holiday jobs, while he has an office job in London, as a network administrator, all because he wowed his boss when he went there on work experience.

He goes by the alias 'TheEclypse'

I started to program computers when I was 11 years old, as a hobbyist, programming in AMOS Basic and Blitz Basic for Amiga.
At 12 I had my first try with assembler, but it was too difficult at the time. Then, in the same year, I learned C and, after learning C, I was finally able to learn assembler (for Motorola 680x0).
Not sure, but probably between 12 and 13, I started to learn C++. I always programmed "in an object oriented way", but using function pointers instead of virtual methods.

At 15 I started to learn Pascal at school and to use Delphi. At 16 I started my first internship (using Delphi). At 18 I started to work professionally using C++ and since then I've developed my programming skills as a professional developer in C++ and C#, generally creating libraries that help other developers do their work easier, faster and with less errors.

Programming since the age of 10, started professionally at the age of 17. Currently involved in both Client and Server side development on Win32 platforms for MC/HA/FT financial applications. Development experience with Win32, Win16, Linux and other flavors of Unix.

Extensive multithreaded development experience on Windows platforms using the Win32 SDK, and MFC.

Experience with HA/FT n-tiered Client/Server systems as well as GUI apps of varying complexity. Some experience with Game developement.

Having learned that the stuff you can barely get away with doing Client-side apps just does not cut it in the real "Server World", I am amazed how many 'professionals' cannot tell the difference between "works" and "correct" or try to (mis)use VB and/or MFC on server-side development projects, never considering that just because it RUNS, does not mean it runs WELL.

Lastly, I am also a collector of arcade games, and can perform repairs, conversions, etc. Search for my name, you will find me on lots of arcade-related documents and sites.
