if he wants to disable/enable the buttons, maybe he will ask for 'how to disable controls'? :sigh:
There's a lot of possibility of what he really wants.

That program doesn't necessarily need a start and stop button.
Okay, I will give you the scenario (and correct me if I'm wrong)
You have two numbers, then you will click the 'ADD' button. (This will automatically start since you trigger it to start. Which is the clicking of the Add button. This, will also automatically stop after all your lines of code in the 'ADD' button was executed)
Or, are you saying that you want your program to terminate after you click the stop button? Now, I'm confused, really.

First question: What kind of program are you on to? We don't really know what is the purpose of you start and stop buttons. Are you going to make a stopwatch? Or a music player?
Second question: What have you done so far? Show us your code so that we can help.
If you don't elaborate your question and what you want to achieve, no one can help you, because, even me, I am confused with your post.

And I tried his code, actually, control.Style.Add doesn't exist in VB.Net. control.Attributes.Add doesn't neither.

First, try to query for the customer name.
SELECT [tblfield] FROM [tblname]
Then, try to query for the count.
SELECT COUNT[tblfield] FROM [tblname]
Try to start simple and you'll eventually come up with a good query.
PS. I'm not on pivot yet, so I don't know how it is used. Sorry for that. :)

Okay. For example, in your database, you have customer namely cust1, cust2, cust3, cust4 and cust5. So the total customers you have in your database, is 5.
Then, you have customers cust1 and cust2 as pending with a total of 2. And customers cust3, cust4 and cust5 as Save_as_Draft, a total of total of 3 customers. And all other, you have 0. So the total for that is 5 customers, too just like the total number of customers from your database.

you're making it complicated. Why not getting the customer count if all the customer will be categorized?
Example:
You have
cust1, cust2, cust3, cust4 and cust5 (total of 5 customers)
This is not yet categorized, right?
So if you categorized it, (possibly) you'll get
Pending: (cust1, cust2) total of 2
Save_as_Draft (cust3, cust4, cust5) total of 3
Everything else category you have you got 0.
All in all, you'll get 5 as the total, which is the customer's count also.

So, you want the sum of DocStatus for every CustomerName? Is that it?
I'm trying to do that on SQL2008R2, but all I can do is to get the sum for all the Customer..
I'll try to dig further.
And your query is so new to my eyes. Maybe because I haven't tried using pivot.

Why do you want to use String if you can declare f as int?
It will make that code easier.
PS. Why do you want to make it like that by the way?

It is because, the Date is in mm/dd/yy.

I think it's not possible for you to delete a row on the 3rd table. You don't have @given_ID there.
Maybe, you could use joins?

First, you must know how are you going to search in your database. So, by default (I think), you want to search on a particular column, right? If this is the case, then you must know what column you want to conduct your search.

You have fields on your database, that's what you mentioned above. Then when you leave the txtamount with no value, and click a button so that it has to be saved on your database, you got that error? Is that it?
or,
the moment the cursor left the textbox, that error immediately pop?
I can't understand the "I leave the txtamount" scenario you are saying..

the error message already said it. Could you give us enough information for this. Textboxes receive and store values as string. So if in your table, it is declared as int, and you store it directly, a datatype mismatch will occur.

I'm sorry I'm also confused. So you are saying that the next textbox must be UNDER the first textbox? The word UNDERNEATH is confusing, you know..
I'll try making a code for that. Wait.. :)

you mean, you want to display all the data from your datagridview (which has only one column and multiple rows) to only one textbox?
How do you plan to display it? There must be a concatenation or something.

he doesn't give the specifics. all he wants is that I don't have to use a Data Table anymore. He said that after I browse the CSV file's location, and when i click the "Compare Data" Button, it will automatically compare the data inside the CSV file and finally give an output which is in a CSV format also.

i tried to import it on a data table before comparing it. but my teacher wants me to do it directly. not using a data table. I mean..
