This could be happen due to invalid date for @StartDate or @EndDate paramenters such as 2016-11-31. There is no 31 in November month.

OK. Can you tell me what is the expected outcome of the query using above tables and data? just mentioned the data rows that you need to get.
as a sample
Work Number| Customer | Entered Date
1000 | Cust A | 2016-01-01
1000 | Cust A | 2016-01-02
(I just took some data. But mention the exact row details as you expect)

Your question is bit unclear.
If you want to remove only the worknum showing up in the result you can just remove "tblA.worknum," from your select statement. But I hope that is not what you want to do. So need more clarification.

Have you tried to execute the update statement outside of the transaction block.

OK. I modified my answer. Just a little change inside the inner join. (Assuming job no will be increasing.)

You welcome..
you can get data like that. But you need to make sure the job number is increasing when adding a new job. Simply the job number must not be decrease in any situation. Agree ?

Do you want to get one row per particular car_id and job_number or you want to get all the data rows for each and every car_id and job_number ?
