Thanks for the reply, but it doesn't really solve my purpose. Image maps work with mouseover, and I am looking for image area highlight on textbox focus.

I am not looking for the functionality offered by ImageMap. I don't need to click anywhere on the image. All I want is to be able to highlight some area on the image, not create a hotspot.

That did not work for me.

From what I can observe, I think there aint enough space to the right of the point where the tooltip is being drawn, thats why it keeps on re-drawing the tool-tip over and over, hence the flickering. I have tried relocating the tool tip to middle of the form and it works fine.

Your solution worked fine. Thanks.
But I would like to mention here, that '.' in the "[.]" matches only the . character, and not any character.

That functionality is achieved when we do not use the square brackets.

The parameter is a String. And I wish to use RegEx only to do all the pattern matching.
