That makes sense. Perhaps adding "Competition" as another drop down item would be an improvement. Upon seeing the other types of surveys on that page, I had dismissed this page as the place to find competition surveys. I had dismissed it entirely when I came across the Competitions page. When I clicked on Best ASP.NET Article of May 2011, the page I got was fairly general and seemed useless for what I wanted. Not sure why this page would list "latest articles" but not "survey results" (might also be good to have a "vote" button before voting has concluded). I saw that it listed a current winners list, but that page was essentially empty.
I suppose the main thing to note here is that there are seemingly multiple ways to get to the desired data, but one is not obvious and the other is not fully implemented (according to my expectations as a user).

I was trying to search The Lounge for reposts, but I got 12 pages of results. Could you add something to the search functionality that allows the user to search only the thread starter messages (i.e., exclude the replies)? I think this existed in the old search functionality, but was removed when the search feature was "upgraded".

When a user is reported as a spammer, or a message is reported as spam (a certain number of times), I think it would be a good idea if the site automatically removed all URLs within the reported messages).

Hello,
if for any reason (let's say curiosity) I want to check how many votes and how those votes are spreaded in the points of one post in the Q&A section, when I hover the mouse on the stars, the small window appears, but the z position is not completely right as the red flag to report de message is not covered by the floating window with results and therefore there are some values that can't be seen.
This happens only in short questions as the space between the question and the flag is not big enough.
You could see that behavior here[^].

I've tried and tried and tried but can't get the window to hover over the flag. Probably just some admin controls getting in the way so I'll have another play later this morning.

I wanted to bring this to your attention. The link that points to a question in Q&A has a number in it followed by a slash and then the topic of the question follows. This clever guy[^] seems to have found out that the text after the number doesn't matter at all. So he posted solutions is Q&A that always point to OP's question but the text after the question number always says www.aspdotnet.in. The link text is always "Make your PC faster".
I've already reported him on his page. I just wanted to bring this scheme to your attention.

Perhaps he got the idea from the JSOP Forum. 
My recommendation to Chris & Co is that a masterpage should check the raw URL path against the expected path and, if they don't match, forward the user to some other page (e.g., the homepage or an error page). Or in the very least, log any unexpected URL's so they can be researched.

When a Q+A attracts a single vote, the mu calculation looks OK, but it seems to consistently show a sigma of 2.86. AFAIK, the sample standard deviation is undefined for a sample size of 1. Maybe they have redefined it in the dacades since I studied stats.

Now that there is work going on on icons (and colors), why not consider making all existing icons more 3D-ish (Vista / Windows 7 / Mac) style.
Some new fancy icons could be nice and would bring about a change for those who visit this side frequently.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it.

Well there goes a great joke ruined.
I was just about to post a big treatise on how positive thinking promotes creativity and goodwill towards others, how red is typically associated with aggression (and appetite - notice how all the fast food joints are red?) and that in these stress filled times, and considering the amount of angst that has gone on in Lounge over the last week, a more positive outlook was needed, hence the change from angy red to positive, Go! green.
But no. The joke has passed.
The real reason is that way, way back, I was using red to highlight "hot threads". It was all very hip and '90's. However, for the past hundred years or so we've been using red to denote popular and up-voted items, not "hot" threads (in the sense of "lots of action" instead of just popular). We also use green to denote good answer and red to denote bad answer so it was blatantly inconsistent.
On a different topic I removed the joke icon and instead opted to include the rant icon because I figured on a bugs and suggestions forum people were more likely to yell at me than crack jokes. The fact that I've seen no rants other than "bring back the joke icon!" is telling
