I have a dropdown list control on my index.aspx. This index.aspx page includes a reference to a custom control (basically a modified gridview) contained within a separate ascx page.
My problem is I need the value from this dropdown list to be passed to the ascx page. This customized gridview needs to query the database based on the value within the dropdown list.
So how can I pass a value from the main page to my custom control on the ascx page?
Thanks.

Define a property in your customControl.
Set the value for that property in your index.aspx page (from the drop down list)

How about adding a flag in your database table that shows if user has been locked or not and also a counter that shows users attempt to get in successfully.

Creating session variable to be used later on.
Session.Add("userID","420")
to use this session variable in another page. This is how we can access.
string ID=Session["userID"].ToString();
Response.Redirect"Page2.aspx?firstName=faisal"); //this is how we pass value through URL
string name=Request.QueryString["firstName"].ToString(); //Accessing the value in another page

hi,
I upgraded my asp.net 1.1 application to asp.net2.0.
After coverting it ,i didnt get any solution file for asp.net2.0.
how i can creat a solution file for this application?
All I ever wanted is what others have.... CrazySanker

As I recall, if there is only one project in the solution then you don't see it in the solution explorer.

Assumming you are using VS 2005, just do File > Open > Website and using the File System to open the folder that contains your web app. After it is open use Build > Rebuild Solution and prior to the build you should be prompted to select a location to save the .sln file to.

Ok, then to me it sounds as though there is a .sln file somewhere on your machine, probably it is just not located where you expect it to be. Maybe do a search of your machine for all .sln files using "*.sln" and see if you can find it. Beyond that I am not sure.

VS 2005 doesn't prompt you to save solution files. They are by default located in "Documents and Settings" folder under your user in a folder call Visual Studio Projects, or something like this. IIRC you can change this somewhere in the options.

I beg to differ. My vs 2005 does indeed prompt me to save a .sln file if none exists already.

|
|

|
VS 2005 create the solution file at default place if you have not given address to store go to My documents -> Visual Studio 2005->Projects->check for your project name a folder should be there with your project name
Thanks and Regards

Hi there.
I read an article on how to send mails from my ASP.NET C# pages using SmtpMail.Send(). It works great but when I type Arabic characters for example, the receiver only sees "???????????" instead of what I wrote.
How can I solve this problem? If I type these characters in a Yahoo Mail, the receiver sees them correctly.
My page is set to utf-8 with unicode signature.
Please help.
Thanks.

Try these lines:
message.SubjectEncoding = System.Text.Encoding.GetEncoding("utf-8");
message.BodyEncoding = System.Text.Encoding.GetEncoding("utf-8");

Thanks buddy! It worked great
