Yes, you should be able to do so.

as long as the backup is not converted or you do not swap solution files between backup and converted files then you should be able to open the sln in VS 2003.
BTW, most VS2003 apps get converted to 2005 without errors, so don't worry. Also, VS ask you if you want to save a backup before converting the solution, you can use that back up as well.

say a web application uses a dll assembly as a resource and the dll has memory leak. this shows up as memory leak in w3wp.exe right? since all resources are loaded by the application pool which comes alive as a w3wp.exe?
many thanks.

hi iam using asp.net2.0 with c#
In the gridview 1st column is checkbox,in my gridview iam using paging , iam dispalying data at page load,
when user selects the check box that records are stored in database.
but when i selects the checkbox at 1st page then it is
storing all the records but when i selects the 1st page records as well as 2nd page records
then it is storing only second page records .
iwant to store all the records what ever user has selects the checkbox.
can you give me example which helps me.

Which event you are using for saving record?If you iterate through a gridview you'll get only the rendered page rows not the entire rows as expected. otherwise you need to save the DataSource in some persisting object and need to iterate through it.
|
|
|
|
|
iam using button click event.
when users selcts the records from 1st page or from second page then what ever user has selected that should be save in database .but it is not happening.the only last page you have visited and selects the records that is stored not the previous records
how to solve this situation can you give example which helps me,
|
|
|
|
|
What you can do is, on the PageIndexChanging event you iterate through the grid and add all checked records to a collection, same with the second page, and when he click on submit you save the collection.
|
|
|
|
|
can you give example how we can add the records to the collection
|
|
|
|
|
can you provide your grid source?

Persist the Data either in the page view state or inside the session.Both these way will cause a severe performance issue.

Hi all ,
I have created an asp.net application and my database is on another system.I want to connect that database to my application from that another system using the webconfig file. How can i do it ?
Thanks in advance.
|

define the connection string in web.config under appsettigns tag like;
<appsettigns>
<add key="name" value"Data Source=remote pc name; uid=userid; password=sqlserverpassword;Initial Catalog=Database name"/>
</appsettigns>
</pre>
or U can use the connection string tag also.
call the same is ur cs or vb file using configuration managaer class.

there is no error. Main problem is it is not inserting in to the table.how to define the datasource of that another pc.can u give me an example or is there any thing we have to set properties or give access.And i am using sql server 2008.
Thanks in advance.

Nothing has to be define, If the problem is in insert query the connection has no problem.
it will be inserted in the same manner it inserts with the local database.
just define the connection in your command statement
SqlCommand sql=new SqlCommand(str,con)
will work fine. Or check with ur user credential for login into sql database. sa has right and the other user not then also the insert could be failed.

I didn't get you. What is the problem you facing to connect the db which in another system? define the connectionstring in web.config properly

|

first check the database tht if you can access from your system using sqlserver management studio. If yes There will be no problem just specify the correct connect string as brij suggested.

You may select, insert or update the queries in the Sql Server Management Studio, but not from the application.
Just check whether the application is having right access to do the manipulations in db. This might be the problem, even though the connection string is correct.
Success is the good fortune that comes from aspiration, desperation, perspiration and inspiration.

hello every body
I am unable to insert data into a db using a store procedure in the LINQ to SQL .The code is:
LinqToSQLDataContext dc = new LinqToSQLDataContext();
info inf = new info { Id = 1, name = "Ali" ,infoD="he is agood boy"};
dc.UserDetails.InsertOnSubmit(inf);
dc.SubmitChanges();
but the error is system.data.table.InsertOnSubmit has some invalid arguments

I guess inf is not the same type of data object in the table UserDetails.

Dear All,
I am looking for a way where I want to pass javascript variable to asp.net function
bellow is what I am doing right now
function openWindowWithArg()
{
var myParam = window.dialogArguments;
var param = document.getElementById('TextBox1');
param.value = myParam.param;
<%bindAdvancedFilterData("1,2"); %>;
<%bindAdvancedFilterData(param.value); %>;
}
any ideas how i can pass param.value to the asp.net method bindAdvancedFilterData()?, I can do this using query string and session but May be it should be possible to do it like this?
