I don't understand completely what do you want but I have written a LINQ expression that will calculate the number or each character in the string:
string hello = "Hello, World!!";
(from fn in
(from ch in hello.ToCharArray()
group ch by ch into g
orderby g.Key
select new Func<object>(() => {
Console.WriteLine(g.Key + ": " + g.Count()); return null;
}))
select fn()).ToArray();
All the characters will be printed to the console.

Hi frds,
I am using C# and asp.net 2.0 for developing a website admin panel on testing server, as for my concern i need to programmatic( via c# code) replicate database of testing server to database of live server on a button clicked event.
Test server having MS sql server 2005 and live server have MS sql server 7.0 are on same network. can you give a help or suggestion regarding this issue.
Thanks in advance,
Abbas

Well, this is easy.
Just take a backup using BackUp Command of SQL Server to take backup of database to a location which is accessible from your live server.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms186865.aspx[^]
In the live server, copy the file from the network and Restore it.
Generally BackUp and Restore always works for local path. You cant use Unc path to do this. So you need to copy them first to your live server before you restore.
Also there might be some issue with access of the current user, You need might have to do Impersonation to access the unc path(If it is required).
Hope you can do this.
Other than that, You can also take the Help of SMO objects to do this.
But always remember SMO classes are very much Version Specific.
SMO - Manage your SQL Server![^]
cheers.

Hi all,
i have created html reports and displayed date by using DateTime.now.Tostring("dd-mm-yyyy") but it shows US time Zone's time but i wann display it in IST +5:30 format can u pls help me...
Thanks and regards.

Are you just wanting to add 5:30 to your local time? The simplest way would be to just code.
DateTime.Now.AddHours(5.5).Tostring("dd-mm-yyyy")
If you were wanting to make it more flexible I would suggest setting the value to add to a settings file or to your web.config so you wouldn't have to update the code everywhere should you change the location of your server.

I think either you need to configure your local time of the system to IST or adjust the time programmatically.
Use DateTime.Now.ToUniversalTime().AddHours(5).AddMinutes(30)
Also to get the format right, place
Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = new System.Globalization.CultureInfo("culturecode");
before your DateTime call.
I hope you will get the result.

Hi...
I have two Custom HttpModules in a .net application.
Can I override the BeginRequest event of IHttpModule in both custom HttpModules?

Those are events, just place appropriate handlers.
Actually if you see any httpmodule you will see we generally we always handle those events.
Use
application.BeginRequest += (new EventHandler(this.Application_BeginRequest));
Place this in Init.

Hi,
i have a requirement like selecting multiple dates or weeks or months on a calendar control in ASP.net web application.please help me to archive the requirements.
Thanks,
Vinay.

Why dont you create your own calendar or use Javascript Calendars like Yahoo or anyone in the market which will enable you to select dates without postback?
Other than that If you really want to use the ASP.NET calendar there is also a way for that here:

I hope you like my answer.

Hi everyone

Just place a key(preferably the sessionID) in Database when the user is logged in (you may also use Shared Variables like Application). When he logs in again, just replace the key with the new one.
On every call to the server,
check if the current SessionId matches with the SessionId which is placed for the same user.
If it doesnt match, redirect to login and let the user login again.

Is it possible to hide (visible=false) a complete row of controls with 1 command? And can this be controlled from code-behind? If so, pleasee show example...
Thanks in advance...

Yes, it is possible.
Give the Row a id and make it runat="server" like
<table>
<tr id="rowhide" runat="server">
<td>
<asp:Label id="lbl" runat="server" Text="Test"></asp:Label>
</td>
<td>
<asp:Label id="lbl2" runat="server" Text="Tes2"></asp:Label>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
And now at the code behind page you can do like
rowhide.Visible = false; //true
Hope it helps.

Thanks Kaushal, I will try this out first thing in the morning and let you know. I think I tried something like this with out much results but I might not have included the runat=server in the tr statement. I'll let you know...
Thanks again... Chuck...
