I have been tasked with moving an ASP .NET production servers web application from a 2008 Windows server to a 2012 Windows server. I do not have the application's source code and only have the deployed to IIS application files. Can I do this and if so does anyone know of an artical to instruct me on doing so?

This is very, very, easy to do, assuming there are no hiccups.
Copy the files from the one server to the other server. Then in the new server, setup a website in IIS and configure it the same way the 2008 server was. Done.

And once you've done that quit your job and work for someone that has the source code for their production websites

Perhaps. I could be wrong but I read this as the OP is a network admin type of person and has to move a website. Therefore, the source code has nothing to do with the question.

This is more a CSS issue. You can't print to the client's machine via asp.net code, and your asp.net code runs in its entirety before sending anything to the client so you can't "loop" the way you are intending.
Instead send all 7 pages to the client with the relevant css that designates where the page breaks are and the client will need to print from their browser (no you can't do that automatically either, neither can you force them to print) and the documents will be on their own pages. Google for css page breaks or for print style css in general.

I'm struggling with navigation in asp.net mvc and URLs.
When you are visiting your profile at facebook, the url is facebook.com/yourusername.
At your profile there is a menu with the following links: Timeline, About, Friends etc.
When you click on one of these links, for example Photos, the URL is changed to facebook.com/yourusername/Photos, and the photos are rendered. The menu described above are still there, and so also the profile picture and the cover picture. Its like a partial view has rendered viewing the photos.
I want to accomplish this effect in my project, but I don't know how to do it. I have tried to do it with Partial view but the problem is that the URL is not changed when the partial view is rendered.
Anyone can help me with this? How should I structure it?

Hi,
I have the following code:
<div class="col-lg-12 pull-left">
<div class="user_menu">
<ul>
<li>@Ajax.ActionLink("Wall", "Wall", "Home", new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "main" })</li>
The partial view Is rendered as expected inside my main div. But I want the URL to change when you render the partial. How can I do this?
So when I click on the link, I want to render the partial inside my div AND change the div to http://localhost123/Home/Wall
Or should I configure my route-config for this? How should It look like?

What do you mean by "change the div to http://localhost123/Home/Wall".
Do you want to change the URL or Div ID ?
Can you elobrate?

So this is an extension of the my last post about sending emails async.
I have these asmx web services, and they record the transaction, send an eamil message and return a JSON formatted string back to the client script written in JQuery.
When I run the code in WebDev, All is well, and I stop at the last line that returns the JSON String, and it looks good. But for some reason, the JQuery Ajax success can't parse or see the return object.
The message sends, database gets updated, just the return value get lost, malformed, or something.
I can't seem to figure it out.
So this is just a example of what I did with the service.
<WebMethod(EnableSession:=True)> _
Public Async Function send_Reply( _
ByVal m_messageID As String) As Threading.Tasks.Task(Of String)
Dim _task as _smtptask - Await sendMessageAsync(model)
updateDatabase(model)
archiveMessage(model)
Await sendMessageAsync(model)
Return json_response.ToString
End function

Well after using IE? and the debugger, I saw that my data was in another object below the typical object which was "d". Now it's "d.Result"
I read some articles and they all say can't be done. Don't even try it, so I'm not sure what to think here.
I Forget to mention that I was using 4.51. It works, not sure if any weird stuff will happen so I won't marked it as solved.
What do you think?
Before:
success: function (data) {
var objB = jQuery.parseJSON(data.d);
var result_Value = objB.result_Value;
var m_emailName = unescape(objB.m_emailName.replace(/\+/g, ' '));
After:
success: function (data) {
var objB = jQuery.parseJSON(data.d.Result);
var result_Value = objB.result_Value;
var m_emailName = unescape(objB.m_emailName.replace(/\+/g, ' '));

Tool: Visual Studio 2012, Windows 7.
Application: Console Application (Both : Client & Server).
I have created one Client(HttpClient) Application and One Server(HttpListener) Application to Interact with Each Other on the same Machine. Now I want to secure transaction between this client server using Open SSL. How to do it?
I know Both HttpClient and HttpListener support HTTPS but I want to explore Open SSL architecture, its workflow and security to HttpClient-Server application.
Actually I am totally new for OpenSSL. It will be my first application with Open SSL.
How to setup and use Open SSL to this applications?
I have downloaded openssl-1.0.2h.tar.gz, openssl-1.0.2h-i386-win32.zip, asc, sha1 and sha256 files from Open SSL and Binaries.

Best option would be to study the documentation; see OpenSSL[^].
