Vuyiswa Maseko,
Spoted in Daniweb-- Sorry to rant. I hate websites. They are just wierd. They don't behave like normal code.

If you debug it, it should be pretty easy to see what is happening.

I solved this by adding
Dim scriptManager As ScriptManager = scriptManager.GetCurrent(Me.Page)
scriptManager.RegisterPostBackControl(Me.gdvLineItems)
in PageLoad. gdvLineItems is the Grid that has my linkbutton
Your help is much appreciated.

So i got this module "Internet Programming" where we should learn ASP.NET and some C#. But what we really learn is some drag and drop functionalities of Visual Studio 2013.
As we don't learn any hard code I do post this thinking its a simple question.
All i need is to insert (if possible) reservations for restaurant tables (a given number of requested seats will require a number of tables to be reserved).
Here are the DB tables i use:
<img src="http://imgur.com/bUPF4sB"> </img>
Link To Tables[^]
Steps:
1- Add restaurant Tables, the sum of seats of all tables its the total seats at the restaurant. DONE
2- Make reservation:
2.1- Get client info: Name, Contact, number of seats to be reserved and date (day, month, year, hour) DONE
2.2- Check availability. If number of available seats for that time is lower than the number of seats requested show massage to user.
3- ...
At 2.2 i don't know how to see if there are seats available to make the reservation.
In some other programming language i would search the seats already reserved for that time and subtract that number to the total seats of the restaurant. Then just by compering the result with the seats requested for the new reservation i could tell if its possible to reserve or not... easy...
But not so easy in the way I'm dealing with ASP.NET on visual studio and using built-in DB manager wit IIS express Server.
Thx in advance for any help

So you want code? or you want idea to fetch data from database and check availability of seats?
Your help is much appreciated.

Some code would be nice.
As I'm doing all using the graphic interface instead of coding I'm having an hard time to get along with C#...
I've created some tables i got the CRUD (create, read, update and delete records on tables). But again all with basic stuff no real coding skills needed.
Now if i want to access/manipulate data from some table how do i do it? IS there something like there is JDBC - ODBC in java ??

I've seen some solutions like that, but i think that there is some really easy way to execute a query. In a way they are already being executed because i got the CRUD options.
I just don't know how to execute some specific queries. Like an insert as a result of a some function.

The only other way that I'm aware of to execute a query in ASP.NET is using the data source controls[^]. If you've built the CRUD operations using drag-and-drop in Visual Studio, that's almost certainly what you're using.
The data source controls will cover most basic scenarios, but once you run into their limitations, you'll need to start using ADO.NET or an ORM for data access.

Although not needed, but you can very well use Kendo UI for such stuffs.
Better to look for Kendo UI forum for help.

My web application is deployed in US server. I have a start date field which is defaulted to current day. Is using date, time. Now to show the current date. But I want to display the client's machine date. How to achieve this. Any help would be appreciated.

See http://www.w3schools.com/jsref/jsref_obj_date.asp[^] for examples.

Ryan is correct.
I would like to add an extra point, I know it is out of topic.
Though you are displaying the start date from the local machine date/time (which is absolutely correct), you need to convert the date/time to a standard date/time(can be the server date/time or GMT) when you are storing the start date in your database. And when you retrieve this start date later to display, you will have to convert it back to the local machine time. This functionality is very important when you application is accessed across different time zones.

Swinkaran wrote: can be the server date/time or GMT No, datetimes should always be stored as absolute UTC values. That allows them to be rendered anywhere anytime as a correct local time.
