It will try to save all the class files in the app_code folder.
Why do you want to install on the same location? if it is part of the same solution then add it to that solution and make one setup. For separate permissions place a separate config file in its own folder.

Hi,
I am developing an ASP.Net application which communicates with a .Net COM DLL. All the functionalities depends on the DLL events. When I am trying to update any control (say adding a list box item or setting button.enabled state) from any of the DLL Event Handler, its not getting updated and its not throwing any error too. But when I update it from any page events (say page_load or button_click), its getting updated.
Can anyone give a solution for this please? My application is totally based on DLL events.
Thanks
Sree

Hi
I have a gridview displaying the northwind Orders table. I'd like to add a new column called "Order Details" which is a hyperlink to the order details of the order record. I created the column and added the following code...but I don't know how to create my NavigateURL dynamically based on the primary key of the order selected.
"GridView1" runat="server" AllowPaging="True"
AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataKeyNames="OrderID" DataSourceID="dsOrders">
"True">
"OrderID" HeaderText="OrderID" InsertVisible="False"
ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="OrderID">
"OrderDate" HeaderText="OrderDate"
SortExpression="OrderDate">
"RequiredDate" HeaderText="RequiredDate"
SortExpression="RequiredDate">
"ShippedDate" HeaderText="ShippedDate"
SortExpression="ShippedDate">
"Order Details">
"dsOrders" runat="server"
ContextTypeName="NorthwindDataContext" TableName="Orders">
The problem with the code below is I don't know how to identify the order id, and how to convert the text into an actual hyperlink value instead of static text.
protected void GridView1_RowCreated(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
{
if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
{
e.Row.Cells[5].text = "http://mysite/orderdetail.aspx?OrderId=?";
}
}

I didn't get the complete code which you have posted. But from your question what I can suggest is to have a template column in the gridview and then in the gridview rowdatabound event just find that control and then set the navigate URL property of it. The rowdatabound event gets fired for all the rows in the gridview. So this will suffice the need.

Anyway you are getting the value of OrderId in one of the cells. So get that value in an integer variable like below:
int ordid = e.Row.Cells[5].Text
Probably you need a conversion here to integer. Then, for making dynamic hyperlink columns, check in this site : CreateHypeLink Fields Dynamically

So here is my confusion...some people say add an itemTemplate field with a hyperlink, and others claim to simply a new hyperlink column and set the DataNavigateURLFields, and DataNavigateURLFormatString manually.
I didn't have any luck with using the ItemTemplate field....so I added a hyperlink column instead below.
Are there any advantages over using an ItemTemplate vs hyperlink column???
<asp:hyperlinkfield xmlns:asp="#unknown">
DataNavigateUrlFields="OrderId, CustomerId"
DataNavigateUrlFormatString="HyperLinkOrderDetails.aspx?aOrderID={0}&CustomerId={1}"
HeaderText = "Order Details"
Text="View order details" />

Hi All,
I have a Datagrid with some hyperlink columns. Need to pass those column values to another page (not by using querystring). What is the event that fires when the hyperlink column is clicked? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

I think for your case a Link Button control will be suited. That control looks like hyperlink and have an event to perform some action.

Check on this message:
HyperLink on Datagrid
After getting the value, store it in a session variable for passing to the next page since you don't want to use a query string. Hope this helps.

Use loaded DataSets to load your grid at runtime. It seems very easy

what??!!!can you explain a little bit

use dataset in code.
gridview.datasource=dataset
Errors are like Mini Skirts, shorter they get, more revealing they become.

but i found people use 2 sqldatasources to bind to gridview alternatingly..my experience with such endeavour was absolute failure..i dont know why. yes i can do the dataset option

So, I started running through my ASP.NET web site with IE 8.0 looking for the inevitable issues that would crop up that did not exist in the previous version. I was running IE8 on a clean client and had my development website and my live website running in separate tabs. To my bewilderment, the site running on my development machine looked totally different than the site running on my webserver. In fact on my dev machine the web site looked the same as it did in IE7. I was stumped...after spending a hour or so checking files and versions and etc. I found this little gem.
IE 8.0 has a feature called Compatibility Mode which works great as it renders outdate markup to look as it did in IE 7.0. The cute little trick here is that under Tool>Compatibility View Settings, there is an option...
Display intranet sites in Compatibility View
...which in MS's infinite wisdom is checked by default and hides the Comatibility view icon on the address bar.
So, now you know and you can save yourself from the wasted time I just enjoyed.

Jeff

Hi
I need to move an image in a div to the back so it is behind other images.
How do I do that?
thanks

hi
i think that you can use z-index property of CSS
for example:
<div style="z-index:-10">
the tag that has lower z-index is behind the others.
I hope it is useful.

Pick up a good book on the subject. There are plenty of them out there.

Really, it's not that big of a switch with .NET. I went from Winforms and VB.NET to Web Apps with C# without any real strain.

Well, it's pretty much the same, still totally different.
You are moving from a stateful client application to a stateless client-server application. That's the part that is totally different.
To make it easier for you, the web controls that you can use in a web application can to some extent emulate the statefulness that you are used to. However, this always comes with a cost, usually in the form of a larger payload that the browser has to download for every page.
Despite everything, the person most likely to be fooling you next is yourself.
