how to pass the ID of a text box in a gridview to a javascript

From your message above I can derive that you want the following:

1. Display an article which is stored in a database
(Dont store the actual article in the database, store the address for it and then just retrieve that as you would do with a normal field.)

2. Create a bullet point list for which the articles display in
(This is easy just write a loop to loop all articles in your database which match todays date and then in the loop put <li> and then the field name)

No, because a GridView is a NamingContainer so will give a UniqueID to your textbox.

Yeah forgot about that, he would have to find the control within the gridview.

note in the above snippet that you are passing a reference to the textbox (this) to the javascript method, hence you dont need the getElementById at all - you already have a reference to the element.

therefore, your javascript method can simply be

function getdata(obj)
{
   obj.value='0';
}

or your textbox's onfocus could simply be:

onfocus="this.value='0';"

Please give more info about what you are trying to achieve, as often you dont even need the ID of the textbox. If you do, a textbox has a UniqueID property which you can use from Javascript

generally text box is used to edit item in edit mode..
so find that text box in row editing

now attach txtboxid.attribute.add("onkeypress","return getdate(this);");

I had a problem with my User Control write by VB Code
when i apply this control to my Web form and try to set the focus. i get a error Message "cbCustomerID is NULL or not an Object"

Hi,

I m trying to use http://www.dimebrain.com/2007/07/a-dual-slider-f.html[^]

dual slider control in asp.net c# project.

When I add this control to my project it replaces the previous dll of ajax that I have installed.So i m not able to use the default ajax controls.

hai all,
i am using .net 2005.i do my project in asp.net webapplication.
i write the connection named as "connstring_card" in web.config using xml.
i done the following code in web.config using xml.

then i access that connection named as "connstring_card" in c# coding side from web.config.
The following code done in c# coding side.

con = new OleDbConnection(conn);
con.Open();

com = new OleDbCommand("select CardInfo1 from Card where State=1", con);
dr = com.ExecuteReader();

the error "External table is not in the expected format." are showed in the line dr=com.executereader().
