You may need to get a ASP.NET/VB.NET book and read chapters on ADO.NET.

img.Save(fileName);
ms.Close();
here imageBytes hold byte of data and this code save whole data to a .gif file.
but i want know how can i save image with above code specifying dimension as a example 640*480.

I have tried like this,
Update following in function you have already. Sorry, the code is in VB.NET.
Dim myCallback As Drawing.Image.GetThumbnailImageAbort = New Drawing.Image.GetThumbnailImageAbort(AddressOf ThumbnailCallback)
Dim myBitmap As Drawing.Bitmap = New Drawing.Bitmap(img)
Dim myThumbnail As Drawing.Image = myBitmap.GetThumbnailImage(800, 600, myCallback, IntPtr.Zero)
myThumbnail.Save(IO.Path.Combine(Server.MapPath("."), "test.jpg"))
And also add the following callback function.
Public Function ThumbnailCallback() As Boolean
Return False
End Function

You can apply ScaleTransform opertaions to your image through the use of the Graphics object (Held within the System.Drawing namespace). The Graphics object is primarliy used for GDI+ drawing operations but also includes a number of transformation methods that should do what you require. You simply need to work out the required scale factor i.e. 480 / img.Height and then apply this using the Graphics object that has been created from your image.
Search for ScaleTransform with GDI+ and you should fined a load of articles on the subject.
Clean code is the key to happiness.

Are you using Forms or Windows Authentication? if so you may need to use the location element to allow anonymous access to your upload folder. Links below:

Hey Guys,
I am working on benchmarking the performance of different web technologies including ASP.NET. In a particular case I need to calculate page load time querying 10,000 rows of data (and more) from a database. As a test, I have set a page that includes a Repeater that shows for each item an image (only path stored in db) as well as a description text.
I have used DataTable/DataReader to bind the repeater as well as datasource control. My objective is to use the best method that shows the best of ASP.NET which is why I am posting in this forum to benefit from everyone's experience. Do you recommend a different way to bind a repeater with that objective in mind?
I appreciate everyone's help.

I think you have selected proper control to show data on the page. As there is no need to modify/edit the data repeater is the best choice rather than girdview. As per my knowledge using repeater is best choice
i am putting this discussion in my watchlist
Thanks and Regards

Thanks for your input. The choice of control was straight forward but thats not the case for the binding method.So I am looking forward to everyone's input.

To really improve performance you'll probably want to use a binding source that loads asynchronously so you don't have to wait before all the data is in memory before you start data binding.
I just had this crazy idea of a DataReader wrapped in an IEnumerable< DataRow > iterator yielding out DataRows as fast as they come in.
|
|
|
|
|
Very interesting idea Mark, I have a question if you may: Asynchronous Binding will not improve performance in the sense that the data binding will not complete faster than the traditional non-Asynchronous methods right? The advantage Asynchronous data access provide is that the page will be more user friendly as users will not have to wait until the binding process ends as you mentioned. But this is definetly an Advantage ASP.NET have over PHP for example as I dont recall PHP supports Asynchrounous calls I have to re-check to be sure.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
|
|
|
|
|
It may complete faster - I assume that when the server is retrieving the recordset its not fully utilized, and so probably could benefit from starting to databind the early records that come through.
Not sure if this would actually be worth doing - but the potential is there.
I'm talking about fetching the data async on the server for a single page execution. I just realised you might be talking about having the page be rendered, sent to the client and then asked to fetch the recordset. This might look smooth to the client, but the total time will undoubtably be greater - due to the amount of processing done client side (in javascript).
PHP probably does have some kind of async support - but I'm not a PHP developer.
