Maybe Subbu is talking about Request.InputStream.Length ?

Hello
We have a dll that we currently use on the client side or the server side. Depending on how what other assemeblies are in the same directory it will either call a data access layer or call a web service to finish its job.
We have a couple of settings which we access via the exes config file. These appear in the applicationSettings section.
What we need to do is also have the same settings in web.config. Its seems that it is possible to put them all into appSettings and retrieve them by manually searching through each key, but is it possible to simply cut and paste the settings block from the exes/dlls config file and put it into the web.config so the call Global.Logger.My.MySettings.Default.Log_Path will just work.
Figure that since it is going via the web service the *owning* config file will be the web.config the same as the *owning* config from the client is the exes config (not the dll)
Cheers

Hi,
I am writing a client-server app that uses asp.net web services to comunicate with the server. I've got everything set up and running fine, with a set of proxy classes on the client to call the web service methods on the server, and it all works great.
The problem is, that if I use fiddler to monitor the http traffic, the client throws an error when it goes to make a web service call:
System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. ---> System.IO.IOException: Unable to write data to the transport connection: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine
at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.MultipleSend(BufferOffsetSize[] buffers, SocketFlags socketFlags) etc. etc.
I've got my WinINET options configured to use 127.0.0.1 (port 8888) as a proxy, as described in the Fiddler docs, and from my understanding of how a proxy works, Fiddler should forward all requests onwards and correctly return the response, so why is the connection getting closed?
Is it because my client app is keeping the same connection open to the server and reusing it, but fiddler is closing each connection after it's made. If this is the case, what do I need to do make my client app create a new connection every time (or if the connection gets dropped). The whole point of the design is that the client doesn't need to remain fully connected all the time, only at specific moments when information is required from the server. Most of the time, the user needs to be able to work disconnected from the server.
Maybe i've misunderstood whats going on here. If anyone can help explain, or point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
Cheers
Simon

I've just found this in the Fiddler documentation:
http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler/help/knownissues.asp
Which explains that the problem is in my application (which i kinda guessed already) and that I should handle the exception. Which is fine, but what should my reaction be to the exception? should I just retry the web service call? And what should i do if it happens repeatedly, should I just have a limited number of retries?
If anyone has any knowledge on why this happens, and what is going on under the covers it would be great to hear from you.
Thanks
Simon

Hello Everyone,
I'm sending mail through ASP.NET and it's rocking. But whenever i'm trying to send the text given below then an error is occuring.
"Some formatted text like bold italic and etc"
Actually i'm creating my own emailEditor through which i can bold,italic and etc. facilities being provided.
And it's working great but as i'm sending normal text it's but as i provide some formatted text it's not..................
The code i'm giving below for sending mail.........
//For Sending The Mail
MailMessage mail1=new MailMessage();
mail1.To="mail@saamstesting.com";
//mail1.From="info@kiritbhaiji.com";
mail1.From="manoj.manojbisht@gmail.com";
mail1.Subject="Mail From Manoj Bisht";
mail1.Priority=MailPriority.High;
mail1.BodyFormat=MailFormat.Html;
string body=HtmlTextArea.Value;
mail1.Body=body.ToString();
try
{
SmtpMail.SmtpServer="127.0.0.1";
SmtpMail.Send(mail1);
lblMsg.Text="Mail Sent Successfully";
lblMsg.ForeColor=Color.DarkBlue;
}
catch(Exception ex)
{
lblMsg.Text=ex.Message.ToString();
lblMsg.ForeColor=Color.Red;
}
And the following error occuring
A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (HtmlTextArea="Manoj Bis...").
|
|
|
|
|
Request Validation has detected a potentially dangerous client input value, and processing of the request has been aborted. This value may indicate an attempt to compromise the security of your application, such as a cross-site scripting attack. You can disable request validation by setting validateRequest=false in the Page directive or in the configuration section. However, it is strongly recommended that your application explicitly check all inputs in this case.
See the search result

First of all Thnx for suggesting me the link. But still there is a problem actually it's a problem as discussed above
The solution i got is given below
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" Codebehind="Rough3.aspx.cs" Inherits="Rough.Rough3" validateRequest="false" %>
or
<%@ Page validateRequest="false" %>
But as i'm running my project it's throwing an parser error.........
|
|
|
|

Might be because you are assinging some different datatypes can you post the code where you are getting the Parser error. see the Event View of your OS
Menu ->Settings - Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer
See the application error it might have written what's the error is
Thanks and Regards

Here is my code whr i'm getting the parser error
Server Error in '/Rough' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Parser Error
Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately.
Parser Error Message: There can be only one 'page' directive.
Source Error:
Line 1: <%@ Page language="c#" Codebehind="Rough12.aspx.cs" AutoEventWireup="false" Inherits="Rough.Rough12" %>
Line 2: <%@ Page validateRequest="false" %>
Line 3:
Line 4:

The Knowledge wrote: <%@ Page language="c#" Codebehind="Rough12.aspx.cs" AutoEventWireup="false" Inherits="Rough.Rough12" %>
Line 2: <%@ Page validateRequest="false" %>
Here is the error that clearly mentioned that it should have have only one page directive and you are using 2 Add second validateRequest property into first directive itself
Thanks and Regards
