There are a few ways that you can go about this, depending on how complex the spreadsheet is that you wish to read. In a simple case, you may want to consider using ADO to tap Excel as a data source. You can find a nice article on doing so here[^].
If that doesn't work for you, you may wish to consider purchasing one of the commercial components that allow you to work with the Excel native format without Office being present on the machine, such as this[^] one.
As a last resort, it is possible to install Office on the server and use the Office interop assemblies to automate Excel. Please note that I label this the last resort, because it is slower, consumes more resources, and requires client software to be installed on a server (potentially increasing the attack surface.)
Hope that helps.

Can ASP.NET script and HTML server controls be placed in an XSL file?
And if so are there any guides to using them this way?
My program uses a single page with an XML control that accepts an SQL "FOR XML" query result and as its source and an XSL file to format it.
In one case I would like the results of the query sent to drop down selection boxes.
I would like to do so without having to make an entirley new page for it, so was thinking about having HTML server controls and the coresponding scripts for those controls within the XSL file that formats the particular query.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

No, you can't, as a content tag in a master page doesn't have any specific size. A content tag doesn't represent a rectangular portion of the page, but a section of the code for the page.

I have IFRAME control on my page. I can set the 'src' property at design time, to load desired page into that control.
But how to load a page into that IFRAME control programatically? I mean:
This IFRAMe hase ID="aaa". I would like to be able to write in aspx.cs file:
aaa.url = "Page1.aspx" or something similar
How is that possible?
thank you in advance for any help

You can use attributes property to achieve the required thing. something like this:
iframeid.Attributes.Add("src","yourpage.aspx");

Hi!
I have to do paging in thr datagrid., for that I wrote the code :
private void DataGrid1_PageIndexChanged(object source, System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataGridPageChangedEventArgs e)
{
DataGrid1.CurrentPageIndex=e.NewPageIndex;
models();
}
In models() Func... I retrieve the value from the DB.
It shows the value and that the Page no also: 1,2,3.... Bur if i clicks the 2nd page..
It goes to next form.. it doesn't show the values...
How can we solve this one..?

I am using C# as base language to devlope a asp.net website. The problem is that I want to use SqlDataadapter but I find it to be disabled in the toolbox. I ve tried to genrate a dataadapter by dragging a table from Server explorer to Default.aspx form but instead of SQLDataAdapter it genrates a SqlDatasource and dataview. Can someone please tell me what I need to do to use a Sqldataadapter in asp.net?

Excellent - Being able to drag that from the toolbox to your page is the first stage in producing very badly designed code.

SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter();

I said I dragged a table from Server explorer to form not a dataadapter from toolbox.

Either way my basic message stands. Don't drag and drop data items from the toolbox or server explorer to your form. Learn how the database interaction actually works then create your own DAL (Data Access Layer) to do it properly. Putting data access on a form is very VERY bad design. Just don't do it. Period!

Are You using vs2005 or vs2003 ?

Hi!
I am getting up to speed working with web development in vs 2005 and I'm missing a feature in the VS environment. When working in design mode with a page, I want to have easy access to create delegates for any event available in my custom server controls, but I can not find anything of the kind. (I also want easy navigation to the code once I've implemented it.) The events for any regular (predefined) web control are available as expected, but not the ones I define in my own controls.
I get the feeling I'm missing something in my code, since I can find no way to get the controls to appear in the Toolbox either. I've created the controls using Add new Item, choosing the Web User Control template.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong? Or this this a (undocumented) feature (read: bug) in the new development environment?
