I have a master page which consists of header, body and footer. The body has contentplaceholder for embedding the pages.
in one of the page i have used ajax for partial refreshing, but the page is completely refresing instead of partial. what could be the problem.
when i have tried with sample ajax implementation with one label and a button to display the time, it is functioning well.the complete page is not refreshing.
what could be the problem in the above scenario?

In which place you placed your button? The button should be placed inside the UpdatePanel or your should add AsyncPostbackTrigger for the button.

In the actual context I have three listboxes, if i selected one item in the first listbox, the selectedindexhanged event is raised to get the neccessary details for the selected item in the first listbox and post the resulsts in the second listbox.
the same scenario for the second listbox, if the item is selected in the second listbox, postback is done to get the details to fill in the third listbox.
all the three controls are in the same <tr> which is shown as follows
<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server"></asp:ScriptManager>
<pre><asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
<tr>
listbox1 onselectedindexchanged1
listbox2 onselectedindexchanged2
listbox3
<tf>
</asp:UpdatePanel >
</ContentTemplate></pre>

We have a scenario for exporting some data to Excel when the user clicks on Export to Excel button. We have "Export to Excel" button on Master page. Anybody has idea to stop page postback on Export button click?
Can you please shed some light on this?
Thank you in advance,

You can set the following property of your asp button:
OnClientClick="return false;"
Example:
<asp:Button ID="btnID" runat="server" Text="ButtonLabel" OnClientClick="return false;" />

Hi..
I have an issue with the User table..How can I prevent a user deleting himself?
I am giving the procedure below:
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[Usp_User_Delete]
@LoginID AS int,
@DeletingPersonLoginId AS int,
@ErrorMessage as varchar(100) OUTPUT
AS
BEGIN
SET @ErrorMessage = 'SUCCESS'
BEGIN TRY
DELETE FROM [tbl_User]
WHERE
ID = @LoginID and ID<>@DeletingPersonLoginId
END TRY
BEGIN CATCH
SELECT @ErrorMessage = ERROR_MESSAGE()
END CATCH
What I have to check in C# code before delete command firing???

If you don't want the user to be able to delete themselves why offer the ability to do so?

Sorry..I forget to mention,
there are two type of users ..Admin_user and user..
some conditions has to be satisfied:
1.adminUser can only delete other users.
2.Atleast one adminuser should be there in the table always.
is there any way in sql ?

As digi man said, don't allow the option. You should have some idea which user is executing the command, you can tell if they are admin or not, so just don't allow that user ID to be used, or don't show it in your list.

Hello All,
I am New in ASP.Net But currently I am working on Desktop Applications. Now i have decided to Design Web Application. I want to develop a Music Web site using ASP.Net and SQL Server as back End. In this Scenario I have a single problem that,
if I have uploaded some audio and video files on a server (not my domain that is rapid share or megaupload) then is it possible in ASP.Net to Play them or download them without leaving focus from my web page.
Because i have already uploaded files on sharing server and this time i have less space on my domain.
Thanks in Advance.

Yes. You can use AJAX for that. I'd prefer the raw AJAX. Use javascript to open your async connection with the server with XmlHttp or Activex object (for IE). Set your target as another aspx page or PHP page. Do all your processing in that page. Generate a response and then use responseText to retrieve it in ur page. No need to refresh at all..

I'm trying to get definitive information about the OS account ID used by the IIS process(es) on server OSs.
We have a product install that must allow modify access to a registry key we create.
Right now, we have found that the user-id IIS_USRS should be used for a Server 2008 R2 box with IIS 7.
But I have no idea if this is all we need to do for an Server OS and other versions of IIS, e.g. IIS6.
I also read about IIS 7 and its support for app pool identity accounts, for example w3wp.exe runs under 'DefaultAppPool' but this isn't a 'real' user id and cannot be specified for setting either file or registry access control.
The situation is that our product is a class library that may be used by web services or web apps, the library requires modify access to a special registry key (specific to our product) and hence this question.
Should I simply allow mod access to IIS_USRS or NETWORKSERVICE or what?
Does a web app/service always run within a process named w3wp.exe?
Any info much appreciated.
Harry.

Hi,
I am developing an application with a MASTER pages. I have a table in the sqldatabase the stores the domain\username of the user and other information
i had a table that has columns
FName EMPID UserID
Tarun 1 domain\tarun
User should be authenticated if his user name is present in that column and tI don't want to show the any LOGIN FORM.
if there are 1000 employees in the intranet and only 10 employee information is stored in the database then only 10 employee should be able to browse the application. rest should not be
all the article i saw were using cookies and forms authentication(is this the only way.. i mean i don't want to use cookies)
I wanted to create a generic class for authentication. or base class that will authenticate user and once he is authenticated. I should be able to store his USERID in session or next time he click another page i should not query Database.
