I can't add much to the previous 2 posts but: what are you hoping to achieve essentially? It may be that you need this, it might be that you don't but please post the scenario that you're working with so that we can advise.

One of the most useful debugging features of .NET Framework is Trace type (or class in C++). Functionally Trace is very similar to Debug type (and they share most of internal implementation), but unlike its Debug sibling that is supposed to be used only during debugging sessions, Trace functions can be compiled into a program and shipped to customers, so in case your users encounter a problem, they can activate trace by simply editing application configuration file.

Trace is easy to use and fully documented in .NET Framework documentation, so I will only briefly go through the basic trace features.

IE8 on Windows 7 Does not Respond

Good Day All

i have a machine that i use as a server, the machine is running Windows 7 and IIS 7. I am using Windows Xp and my browswe is IE8.

In my application i use Infragistics menu controls. The menu freezes, and they dont respond or calloapse. I have tried the Compatibility mode but it still does that.

Good Day All

I have found the Problem was not on Infragistics. I think someone who does the same as i do will have this problem. To Resolve the Problem i went to the IIS Manager -->Collapse the the tree and select the Application Pools-->In the Managed Pipeline Mode, it was Integrated, i changed it to Classic and it worked.

There is no doubt, you can use either appSettings or connectionStrings. ConnectionStrings has built in support in the ConfigurationManager class where as using the appSettings you have to do yourself. Also, connectionSettings is where other components will look by default for connection information.

Hi,

I have excel files where the teachers include student marks.
Excel files have these columns:
Id_Student ____libelle_matter1____libelle_matter2
how to import these files to table review(Id_Student,id_matter,marks)
I have the table matter: (id_matter, libelle_matter,coeff)??

Use import/export wizard of SQL server(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms140052.aspx[^]). There's a feature there where you can map the fields from your excel spreadsheet to the fields of your table.

I have a gridview in my form which I am populating data using SqlDataSource. The gridveiw has insert, update and delete. But somehow I forgot to write the RowEditingEvent.

Upon my surpise, when I clicked on Edit button in the grid while executing, the row automatically become editable. Obviously, I have declared the columns with EditItemTemplate.

Is the RowEditing Event not required when I use ObjectDataSource or SqlDataSource? I couldn't find such event in the msdn example also MSDN Link

Nope its not. There's no such thing as required event in .Net. Events are raised even if there are no handlers to handle them.

Hello team,

I am in a very critical situation, wherein I will have to take an important decision. I have some existing C programs. Those C programs takes input from .DBF (dBase III) files and .BTR (BTRIEVE) files.

I have been given 2 options:

1) Convert .DBF files to .BTR files and .BTR files to .DBF files. These convertion can be done using .NET. If yes, give me some code snippets or some links where I can get the code.
2) Or using .NET is there any other way to replace this BTRIEVE concept itself? In other ways, instead of BTRIEVE, can we go for some other technology?

Pls advise....

currently i m using asp.net 2005 with c# (framework 2.0). i want to restrict the user to click the save button twice or more than that. Using ajax, i implemented it

<ajaxToolkit:AnimationExtender ID="Anibtnsave" runat="server" TargetControlID="btnsave">

the above block will disable the button. its working fine. but i used few validation controls (ajaxToolkit:ValidatorCalloutExtender).
when i click the button the validation pop-ups and also button getting disable. please help me. - KARAN

great arun. thanks a lot.
also the same i would like to apply for an dropdownlist. because according to the selection of dropdown value, i m changing the button textvalue. according to the text value i m calling different functions.so when user select the dropdownlist item, it take some time. during that time, user should not click the button obviously.

so i want to disable the button while user selecting item from dropdownlist until the text changes.

how to achieve it? help me - KARAN
