You could actually use OnclientClick to call your method. It would just have to return false to avoid a postback.

directory as a webservice.users will b accessing from different domains.
question 1: is it possible to implement my idea as a webservice in visual basic and will it
be accessible from anywhere?
question 2: is there any cross domain security issues if i implement as my idea webservice?
question 3:is there any other issues. for example someone has made a website in c# .net or

Seems like you should buy a book and read it. Hannah is my daughters name, so I will cut you a break:
1 - of course. If it's on the web, it's on the web
2 - anyone can call a webservice, but you can add security, just like you can for a website.
3 - It wouldn't matter, b/c all that matters is your output. How the output of your webservice gets into another webpage, is entirely the problem of the person writing that site.

Hi,
I am using asp:gridview to display my data. while editing i want to show dropdownlist in the cell where simply text was displayed by databinding expression. i want that when the row is edited the dropdownlist should be displayed, with the text in the cell as selectedvalue of dropdownlist. DropDownlist is inside EditItemTemplate
I then used label inside the itemtemplte instead of simple databindingn expression. But when im trying to find the label and dropdownlist im getting only one at a time.
I have tried to use it in Row Editing , Row databound Bt my task is not accomplioshed.
Please help me.
Thank u all in advance for ur help and consideration.

How can I display a Word file on a page. I do not want the user to be prompted to Open or Save.

Thanks.
When I run the code the following error is thrown:
Microsoft jscript runtime error: automation server can't create object
How do I fix this error? Does it need a dll in the website folder?

You may have to check your Browser's security settings.
In Internet Explorer, go to Internet Options, Local Intranet, Click Custom Level.
Look in the area Active X stuff, I think you may need to Enable the option,
"Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe for scripting"
(I'm using Internet Explorer 7)

Hey that worked! Thanks.
Is there anyway to run that code in the code behind instead of the html file? Or is there a way to reference the word object from the script in the code behind? My end result is I want to do Word automation.

The problem you might have is that if you try to open the MS-Word document in the code-behind then aren't you opening the MS-Word doc on the Applicaiton Server ?
How would the end-user see the document ?
Maybe what you are looking for is a MS-Word viewer control that you could place on your web-page. You could then have the Application Server access the document and render it on the page without requiring the client PC to have MS-Word installed.
Something to think about.

Hey guys,
I already search the web but I couldn't find a solution for my display problems with the ReportViewer control in different browsers.
Heh okay! I already figured out, that some buttons like printing and search are only available @ IE because of the activex functions of the IE but I don't care about those buttons, all I want is the same view for the report preview @ firefox and IE.
My current code:
<br />
<%@ Page Title="" Language="VB" MasterPageFile="~/Shared/TableDefaultMaster.master" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="Auswertung.aspx.vb" Inherits="Statistik_Auswertung" %><br />

<asp:Content ID="content" ContentPlaceHolderID="DefaultContent" Runat="Server"><br />

IE: fine view
FF: just a small crapy box
Some1 maybe knows a way to make the view for the control be the same in IE and FF?

for this i need validation controls and validation expressions without javascript
if iused the code given by u then it is raising the validation even i gave the date of join greater than date of birth.help me in this regard as soon as possible
please help me in this regard

Good Afternoon sritha
This can be done in the Following way. On the SelectionChanged event of your calender control enter the following code
protected void Calendar2_SelectionChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
txtdateofjoin.Text =Calendar1.SelectedDate.ToShortDateString();
}
protected void Calendar1_SelectionChanged1(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
txtdateofbirth.Text = Calendar1.SelectedDate.ToShortDateString();
}
This is for diffent textboxes and drop a "CompareValidator" control from the Validation section of your toolbox and right clikc on it and go to Properties. Please Change the Properties to be exactly as i will show you now
Control To Compare: -->txtdateofbirth
Control To Validate:-->txtdateofjoin
Error Message:-->Date of Join must be Greater than Date of birth
Operator:-->GreaterThan
Well to Test this i had to attempt a postback, so i but a button and never wrote any code for it, and i ran my page and input the dates so that the date of join is equal to the date of birth and i got that Error message in the Error message Property.
This is how we do it in Asp.net without using any javascript.
Kind Regards

So, Client can send mail from your application to any customer.
shail nautiyal wrote: The page which is being sent has a link which will further open a new page of a different website of mine..!!
In the mail there is a link of different web site. and you need to access some data from that page. Isn't it?
Ok, Here is my suggestion,
Just send the link of your new web page and all the required data as a query string.like mail link should be:
http://myserver.com/registration.aspx?GUID="FSDFASDFSasdfas"&UserId="YourID"&Item_Code="3"
Send the entire mail from your first web sites.
Now while sending the mail you can perform some additional task,like
Generate the GUID (Is only using for validation) and save it database with corresponding to user ID
Now, In your new page,
Retrieve all the Query string information, and first validate the GUID and UserID from database, that weather user are from valid link or not.
Then you can do anything you want with Item_code.
Hope, this will help you to move ahead.
