Hi,
I have a Pocket PC device with windows mobile 5.
I need to write a small program that can detect IR signals sent from other simple device (such as remote controls).
How can I open the IR port on my PPC programmatically and how can I detect signal sent to my device?
If someone can show me a simple C# example code, or simple MFC example code this would ne very helpful.
Thanks

Hello
Help me!!!!!
I have some weird problems connecting to SQL Server 2005 and I hope you can help me:
I have written a c# app on an acer n300. My app is connected to a SQL SERVER 2005 database. This app works fine. So I decided to install the app on a second pda. Both pdas have wireless lan and windows ce 5.0. But my app does not run on the new PDA.
//
// ConnectionString="Data Source=192.169.71.10,1433;Initial Catalog=MyDataBase; User ID=sa; //Password=server;";
I have installed Compact Framework 2 SP2, but as soon as I try to connect to the database a get the error SQL Server does not exist or access denied. I am absolute sure that my connect string is OK, as it works on the acer pda. The configuration of SQL Server should also be ok, as I can connect from the acer devices.
Network connection is also OK, as I can connect with remote Terminal Services to the machine hosting the database without any problems.
Can you give me a hint whats wrong? Are there any cab files that I must install on the pda before SQL Server 2005 Client is working? I only installed .net Compact Framework.

Hi Philip,
I used the TTS (Text to Speech) from Fonix a few years ago. It works well.

Voice recognition is difficult in non-automotive background, however.

I have an application designed as a pocket PC 2003 project. I use Unicode characters to show my local strings.
The result of my application is different on different devices.
In a Pocket PC 2003, every thing is OK.
In the emulator, the strings are not shown correctly.
In a Pocket PC 2005 Device, the strings of buttons are not shown correctly but the other controls have no problem with Unicode characters.
In a WinCE Device, the strings of all controls are shown correctly except buttons.
What is the problem??????!!!!

The ROM has to be built specifically for each model of device. Contact the device manufacturer to see if there is an OS upgrade available.
One of the major changes between Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0 is that the main file system is persistent on WM 5.0, that is, it is stored on Flash memory. This requires a lot more Flash than in WM 2003, and many 2003 devices did not have enough for WM 5.0 to be practical.

Hello,
1) What is the major difference from the speed(time consuming) and bulky/large data point of view dataset being sent as webmethod parameter (in soap body) and sending the dataset as attachments in VS2005 .netcf
2) If dataset sent in soap body i assume it gets serialized what happens in terms of attachments how is this sent over the wire?
3) Could you please list out various advantage and disadvantage between the two
Many thanks,
Regards

hi ,
i m use following code at click event of a button for display or hide a keyboard
<br />
If keyboardVisible = False Then<br />
mdChecking.SipShowIM(1)<br />
keyboardVisible = True<br />
Else<br />
mdChecking.SipShowIM(0)<br />
keyboardVisible = False<br />
End If
where mdChecking is module and contain following pinvoke function
Public Declare Function SipShowIM Lib "coredll.dll" (ByVal dwFlag As Integer) As Boolean
following function perform well. but when keyboard is displayed then a little icon is also associated with this SIP(keyboard)which also facilitate user to hide keyboard. so if user hide keyboard from icon then at this time my boolean variable is set to true(see above code) and this time if user once again execute the above code then keyboard is not visible.
so how can i remove this icon or how can i determine whether SIP(keyboard) is displayed.

Windows CE has no concept of the current directory. All paths must be specified completely, i.e. from the root of the file system.
We use the following code to get the path to the application EXE:
Dim path As String = System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(
System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetName().CodeBase)

You need to call frmWizardForm1.Dispose() when the form is being closed, so it disposes all resources and the instance of that form. Then reload it, and you will be fine

Ok, in your code I see this line:
frmWizardForm1.Show()
You don't want to do that, change that to
frmWizardForm1.ShowDialog()
Also, be sure to have the Dispose method being called in the close of that form, and that should fix it. I didn't notice that the first time Hope that helps
