Hey I wanted to find out if it is necessary to use renderscript for image processing apps on android. I'am coding an android panoramic view creator for creating 360 degree high quality panoramas but I had written the initial code in C++, but for android I have to use java and I have read about android phones not being so powerful because of their use of the virtual machine. So I was thinking of using renderscript for the android apps, is it necessary or just normal java code can do for such a task as panorama creation?

The <mandroidi18n> entry goes into the .csproj, not AndroidManifest.xml.
This can also be set in the IDE.
In MonoDevelop:
Click Project > Project Name Options.
In the left-hand tree, select Build > Mono for Android Build.
In the right-hand pane, select the Advanced tab.
In the Internationalization section, click the checkbox next to west.
Note: Make sure you're changing options for your Release build, not the Debug build.
Within Visual Studio:
Click Project > Project Name Properties.
In the Application tab, look in the Application properties > Additional supported encodings section (it's on the right).
Click the checkbox next to West.

Dear Friends, I would like to know how to use MessageBox in Mono for Android in Visual Studio 2010 as code below:
public void DeletarRegistro (int iId)
{
try
{
if (MessageBox.Show("Confirma exclusão? ", "Excluir", MessageBoxButtons.YesNo) == DialogResult.Yes)
{
sSQLQuery = "DELETE FROM MyTable " + "WHERE _id='" + iId + "';";
sqldTemp.ExecSQL(sSQLQuery);
sMensagem = "Record is deleted: " + iId;
MessageBox.Show("Dados Excluídos com sucesso.");
}
}
catch (SQLiteException ex)
{
sMensagem = ex.Message;
}
}
I am awaiting help.

I don't think you will be able to use MessageBox on Mono Android. MessageBox class is part of System.Windows.Forms package and is not available on Mono for Android. Instead please have a look at AlertDialog Sample[^].

All platforms are secure, but it is up to you the user to ensure you install software protection such as anti-virus etc. It only becomes insecure when you start accessing the internet.
|
|
|
|
|
But the preferrable use of the tablets/smartphones is Internet and web services.

The issues remains the same. Whichever device you choose you will need to ensure it has adequate security software installed.

What would be you AV software recommendations for Android and iOS?
Now I use the Lookout for Android. Is this a good one?
Thanks.

No idea, try reading some of the comments and reviews about it.

This what I usually do. But always would like to have an opinion from another developers, which have wide experience in this area.

I want to send code to the mobile label printer via mobile application. I have to do this with TCP connection. While tcp connection and printing is OK with the windows desktop application, It just does nothing with the mobile application. Once I click the connect button it connects to the printer and sends the text without problem but the printer does not respond!
Appreciate any suggestion
Here is the code
private static NetworkStream stream;
private static TcpClient client;
if (client == null)
{
client = new TcpClient();
int port = int.Parse(strPort);
client.Connect(server, port);
}
stream = client.GetStream();
StreamWriter writer = new StreamWriter(stream, Encoding.GetEncoding("Windows-1251"));
writer.AutoFlush = false;
writer.Write(Encoding.GetEncoding("Windows-1251").GetBytes(message).Length);
writer.Write(message);
writer.Flush();
|
|
|
|
|
Once I removed this line, it printed without problem:
writer.Write(Encoding.GetEncoding("Windows-1251").GetBytes(message).Length);

Hello,
I need some help finding a graphic library for Windows Mobile 6 with a control to answer some quick Yes/No questions.
Something like what's shown here
Also, I need to do something like this.
I don't need to present it the information in the exact same way but that would definitively be a plus.
Thank you very much in advance. Any help will be appreciated.

I'm venturing in to mobile development, finally, and am targeting Android first as I have a Galaxy S3. I've started with Eclipse but it is a bit clunky and am more comfortable with VS. My question is; since I want to eventually port my app to iOS, is the Xamarin suite of apps worth the cost in the end? I'm using the Mono for Android trial at the moment and a personal license costs $399. A bit steep but it is easier to develop in C# with the (hopefully) easier migration to iOS in the future. I'm using the VS 2012 templates that are installed when I installed the development kit. The documentation is a bit lacking but there are many samples and the community seems well established. So bottom line is would you recommend Java and the Eclipse route or C# with Mono?

If you're starting a new app... go with Java/Eclipse... You don't know whether Mono will keep getting supported in that platform (since it's not exactly a "native" language) so you might as well start out with what most of the other apps are already written in, Java.

I had started using Eclipse but also wanted to target iOS. I was using Mono for Android but they want $400 for a license, then another $400 for Mono Touch. That and the fact that I already had to purchase a Mac for iOS development sealed the deal. I decided to go with Titanium for a couple of reasons. The IDE is Eclipse but it also provides easy hooks into the native APIs of the device and everything is written in JavaScript. I am not writing a resource-intensive app and Titanium is well supported by the community, plus there's plenty of resources published by Appacelerator. I contemplated PhoneGap as well since many apps have been written by colleagues but wanted something with a bit more flexibility. Titanium also allows one to target Windows Phone and Blackberry. (in the future)

Cross platform support for mobile is a pain any way to cut it, probably because most phone manufacturers have the luxury of picking both hardware and software and have no real incentive to support other people's software.
