Yes you can pass some values to core functions of an dll file. There is a PINVOKE methods that shows how to do it. Please check this link Here
I hope it helps.
What a curious mind needs to discover knowledge is noting else than a pin-hole.

Hi,
Is there a way to detect file opening / close.
When a file is clicked to open, before the mobile phone launch the
respective application (e.g. word doc, window media player, etc etc), my system will need to do an operation.
Same thing for file close. When the file is completely close, do something to the file.
I did a bit of research.
Firstly, IMessageFilter won't work because it only detect mouse event on the
form. Opening a file in \My Documents or anywhere else outside the form would
not trigger the PreFilterMessage
Secondly, Event Hook in CF does not support mouse event. It only work with
Keyboard.
I am sure there is a alternative solution out there.
Hope to hear from someone soon. its pretty urgent

seems like im not getting response for this. hmm is this feasible? otherwise i will probably think of another plan.

Maybe it's a good idea to think of a new plan but posting

is definately uncalled for.Wamuti: Any man can be an island, but islands to need water around them!

my apology.
i have been asking around but with no result.
im starting to think it's not feasible but i have seen other application with this feature.
i relli hope to apply this feature? it will definitely make alot of different in terms of user friendly.
Any idea for this?

I have an app running on a PDA which makes use of a number of subfolders. After my initial build and deploy I just created these folders manually on the device. Now I am looking to deploy the app onto more devices and want to have these folders created for me. Is there some way that I can do this as part of the initial deploy?
|
|
|
|
|
sure you can.
what i did was create a configuration file which does various initialization during the startup of the application.
for example, the initialization function will check if the sub folder exist. if it is not, it will create the respective sub folders.
is this what you're looking for?
|
|
|
|
|
Now you mention it I realise I have been a bit stupid. I don't need to copy the empty folders when I deploy the app. I will just add an initialisation function to my app and create them if they don't exists. Thanks for the pointer.

Hi All
I have been doing some research on command line programs and been testing some results from these.
Now that I am done testing, I am looking to test a few more features, this time on a mobile platform.
The problem I have is whether or not it is possible to use a command line executable within the mobile environment.
This is the ideal scenerio:
Some uses there phone and logs onto a specific website. They then request something from the server.
The server then sends the requested file along with the command line exectuble. The executable then performs specific functions on the file on the mobile client side and presents the file.
Is this at all possible?
Two things immediatedly jump out at me: Do I have to code the executables into the web application for the mobile, or can it be done simply by programming in somthing like asp .net?
Thanks for the assistants and comments in advance!

1) stop posting in multiple forums - pick the best one and hope its right - people will get snippy if they see the same question in different forums .
2) I used to know of a 'cmd' or 'command' type console application for my iPaq, which isnt that far off what you want, except I dont think it will be very useable on a Mobile as such due to the smaller screen
3) Command line exes dont really exist in the mobile world for a good reason - they dont enhance the user experience - I'd re-do the design of what you're trying to do ...

1. I didn't realise people found it annoying posting questions that way, but I see your point.
2. Will look into how that works.
3. I know that they don't exist often in mobile devices, haven't actually seen any. The reason I am using command line stuff is to plug-in stuff from other sources that have been developed for PC. I'm looking at the effects, etc. of running specific programs and functions on the PC and seeing whether its suitable for the mobile environment too.
Thanks for the reply!

sorry - I do see your point and what you're trying to achieve - I did try to find the console for the ipaq, and couldnt find it - I'll keep looking though
One thought I had, is, compile your functionality into DLLs instead of command line programs, much like a 'plug-in' system. Your base program with a graphics interface lets you enter the url, and select from a list of loaded dll's to get the functions you require ...

try this
http://www.urian.eu/index.htm[^]
cant guarantee its all there - I actually like this approach, it also includes a sdk for developing apps to run in the console - hopefully all the pieces are there ..

Thanks so much for all this...I really appreciate it.
I will take some time today and go through the links you posted.

i wan register dll's on the pda, but i don't now how.
i have searched on google, but i don't found anything to use.
i have read something like make a inf file, or setupdll, but thats not
working with c#. that is for c++.
what can i do to register the dll files?
|
|
|
|

check out RegSvrCE . That is the winmobile equivalent of regsvr32.exe which is used to register dlls.
|
|

i tryed to register the dll on windows mobile 5.0 with regsvrce. but i have this error:
"MySql.Data.CF.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found.
DllRegisterServer may not be exported, or a corrupt version of MySql.Data.CF.dll may be in memory.
Consider using PView to detect and remove it."
i don't have a DllRegisterServer. how can i make a DllRegisterServer?

Hi
I want to make an application which can detect when my device is going to the sleep mode and then it will immediately on the device. I tried a little bit but in vain
Let me show what i tried. Actually i am creating a thread which will try to detect when my device is going to the suspended state then it will try to power on .My logic is in this way but the functions i might be using may be a matter of concerned. Need guidance in that
In the WinAPI I am starting the thread
..
m_hThread = CreateThread(NULL, 0, ThreadProc, NULL, 0, NULL);
...
And in the thread function I am doing this
DWORD ThreadProc(LPVOID lpParameter)
{
LPWSTR pBuffer = NULL;
PDWORD pdwFlags = NULL ;
DWORD iState = NULL;
while(TRUE)
{
iState = GetSystemPowerState(pBuffer,sizeof(pBuffer),pdwFlags);
if(iState == POWER_STATE_SUSPEND)
{
SetSystemPowerState(NULL,POWER_STATE_ON,POWER_FORCE);
return 1;
}
}
return 0;
}

VS 2008, WM 6.1
I'm creating the toolbar:
ToolBar.Create(m_hWnd,0,0,WS_CHILD | WS_VISIBLE | TBSTYLE_TRANSPARENT | WS_BORDER );
::SendMessage(ToolBar.m_hWnd, TB_BUTTONSTRUCTSIZE, WPARAM(sizeof(TBBUTTON)),0);
static TBBUTTON button1 = {0,0,TBSTATE_ENABLED,TBSTYLE_BUTTON /*| TBSTYLE_AUTOSIZE*/,0,0,(INT_PTR)L"New" };
static TBBUTTON button2 = {1,0,TBSTATE_ENABLED,TBSTYLE_BUTTON /*| TBSTYLE_AUTOSIZE */,0,0,(INT_PTR)L"New"};
static TBBUTTON button3 = {2,0,TBSTATE_ENABLED,TBSTYLE_BUTTON /*| TBSTYLE_AUTOSIZE */,0,0,(INT_PTR)L"New"};
ToolBar.AddBitmap(0, IDB_LOGO_SMALL);
ToolBar.AddButton(&button1);
ToolBar.AddButton(&button2);
ToolBar.AddButton(&button3);
ToolBar.SetButtonSize(32,32);
ToolBar.SetBitmapSize(32,32);
::SendMessage(ToolBar.m_hWnd, TB_SETBUTTONWIDTH, 0, (LPARAM)MAKELONG (32, 32));
ToolBar.AutoSize();
The toolbar created sussesfully, but the toolbar's width takes only half screen. How does the toolbar strech on full screen ?

Investigate using RAPI, and then work out a custom solution of how to communicate with your ap. i.e. monitoring directory, com, calling function in a dll, execing an exe etc.
