http://stereopsis.com/flux/[^]
f.lux makes the color of your computer's display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.
f.lux makes your computer screen look like the room you're in, all the time. When the sun sets, it makes your computer look like your indoor lights. In the morning, it makes things look like sunlight again.
Tell f.lux what kind of lighting you have, and where you live. Then forget about it. F.lux will do the rest, automatically.

Great tool chris, put it in my two computers and I love it.
It is strange at the beginning, but once you get used to it...

f.lux is a wonderful tool, unfortunately I have found it incompatible with my nVidia graphics card, a GE Force 7100 GS, in Win 7 Pro 64: specifically, I cannot adjust contrast or brightness in the nVidia TaskBar application without over-riding f.lux settings, and within f.lux, you have a very limited range of adjusting contrast or brightness.
This may be more problematic for me because I am using a large 32 inch, LCD tv/monitor (not full 1080p, native resolution 1366x768), driven by HDMI ?
I have to continually adjust the contrast and brightness settings depending on the application I am running, whether I am watching on-line video, watching a DVD movie, etc. You can be sure that I have varied every aspect of the monitor's internal setting possible before concluding there was no "happy medium" where its high luminance could be "toned down," without sacrificing readability.
I would assume f.lux does not work with other similar lower-end nVidia cards, but I am not sure. I cannot remember if I sent an e-mail to f.lux about this, or not.
Since it has been over six weeks since I last tried f.lux, and nVidia's driver has been updated, I should re-test.
Hope f.lux works for you: its interface is so nicely designed !
best, Bill

Hey! I made this iTunes overlay for full screen games. I won't lie, it isn't the fanciest piece of software ever created but I think it's not too bad and gets the job done.
The way it works is that the overlay stays on top of all your programs and doesn't steal focus upon click. It displays your current song and its artist, its total run time and position which shows as both text and in a progress bar, a scroll bar for iTunes volume control as well as your typical, common functions such as pause, play, stop, next, and back. It's operation is rather straight forward.
The controller is also customizable, allowing you to change its font, font size, font colour and position of the controller, as well as a lock so you don't accidentally move it mid operation. Might want to note that it's a bit laggy for movement though when iTunes has a song loaded as the players constantly updating due to the DLL's event handlers not working.
I realise this is an awfully big post and I apologize. :P But, if this is something you would be interested in, the program can be found here.
There currently isn't any website or any type of forum it can call home. If you know of a website that can be used for sharing programs (Nothing like codeplex or stuff where professional grade programs go, just something simple? ) please let me know.
Hope you enjoy the program! Let me know what you think. ^.^

Just run into Briefcase messing around with “read only files”.
Found out that there is another application which does function in similar way as Briefcase - called SyncToy.
Also found some dead links allegedly supporting SyncToy, so since I have knack to pick a dead horse, should I bother with SyncToy?
Is there another FREE application as SyncToy?
BTW – I had life long bad experience with anything MS calls "Backup", please do not bother with recommending that, OK.
Thanks for reading.
Cheers

Hi,
I have used Synctoy for a while and it did work well enough but every now and again sometimes it seemed to miss a few beats.
In the mean time I have been using FreeFileSync for a few years and that works really well. I use it regularly to maintain multiple duplicates (backups of my +/- 60Gb of personal data) and I have never had any problems or glitches with it.
Just a personal opinion but I like it.

I switch file sync programs annually, it seems. Thanks for the tip on FreeFileSync - looks nice!
FWIW I've been using GoodSync, which works well, but at $39 a pop for the version I can run directly from my backup drives, seems way too expensive - especially since you need a separate license per removable drive for their goodSyncToGo version.

"New High-Quality Free Fonts
From Smashing Editorial"[^]
July 20th, 2012
A review of around 35 free fonts, many of which are absolutely free with no licensing requirement, some of which, like Signika, are available through Google Web Fonts[^].
Includes Roman fonts, pictographic/symbolic fonts (fonts that, in days of yore, were know as "pi" fonts), special fonts for "display type" uses (big sizes, for titles, and headings, etc.): an amazing selection:
"In this selection, we’re pleased to present Signika, Plastic Type, Bariol, Alegreya, Metropolis, Typometry and other quality fonts. Please note that while most fonts are available for commercial projects, some are for personal use only and are clearly marked as such. Also, please read the licensing agreements carefully before using the fonts; they may change from time to time."
Some may not appear as "totally free," like Veneer, but if you read the user comments, and responses from Smashing, you'll find information like this;
"Please notice that the weights featured in this post are available for free download. In the case of Veneer, you just have to register on MyFonts and select the fonts (which both cost $0) and proceed with checkout. With Ranger, you can decide yourself how much you’d like to pay for the font."
best, Bill

(I know this has been posted here before, but I did not see ISSkin in any of those posts)
InnoSetup[^] with ISSkin[^].
ISSkin can use Windows Visual Styles, so there are a number of themes you can use. Just be sure to get permission first!
Addendum: Inno Script Studio[^] is an excellent IDE for Inno Setup

I've got an idea for a new programming language:
New Coding Visual # Language = NCV#L
keywords
---------If
<if the specified condition is complete, runs code>
If [condition] Then
{
code
}
-If---Sub keywords
-----elseif
<if the previous condition isn't complete, specifies another conditions and runs other code>
elseif [condition]
{
code
}
-----else
<no conditions true? Run else's code>
else
{
code
}
---SAMPLE
If [mytextbox-text = ""] Then
{
msg{"No text"}
elseif [mytextbox-text = Null]
{
msg{"Text's null"}
}
else
{
msg{"There's text"}
}
}
--------Null
Shown in the previous if example. Represents the default value of anything. Its use may cause a NullReferenceException.
--------new
Declares a new instance of object. Can be use after as or in equals
SAMPLES
privated mytxtbox as new TextBox
myobj = new TextBox
-------as
Specifies the type of a declaration. Its use was shown in the previous example.
----- public, privated, friendly, shared, local, hidden
Keywords specifying how an object can be accessed:
public – from any place of the solution
privated – from only the place where it was declared
friendly – from only on the declared namespace of it.
shared – from all instance of its parent.
local – none of these keywords can be used as local variables on methods. Except this one.
hidden – declares again object hiding other objects with the same name on its parent.
byval , byref , opt are used only in parameters.
Use shown on the previous example of AS
----------void{parameters}
Same of sub and void in VB&C#. Declares a method, its parameters and its code and have nothing to return. Void don’t have ctors so does not matter if you put ‘as new void’
SAMPLE
public main-load as void {byval e as object}
{
myGroupbox-Header = “This is what we call ‘effect void’”
}
-----------ctor
CTORS are like subnew and public blablablabla on C#&VB. Define how each instance of class will be created
ctor
{
#Call of StartComponent is needed for XAML\WinForms design support
StartComponent{}
}
------option
Create more options to voids\funcs\ctors.
public load-text as void{byref filename as str}
{
option{byval filename as str, byval coding as Coding}
{
myrtf.LoadAdvanced{filename, coding}
}
option{byval stream as Stream}
{
myrtf.LoadStram(stream)
}
myrtf.Load(filename)
}
----------Uses
Imports a namespace, as well its members.
Uses Me.Resources
-------------func
Like void, but shold return something.
public CheckSpell{} as func[ as bool ]
{
If [Spellerror] Then
{
Return[false]
else
Return[true]
}
}
-------------Return[valueToReturn]
Only in funcs or in the property situations below(props). Makes a object throw the valueToReturn.
------props
A property.
public WordWrap as props[ as bool ]{local ww as bool}
{
WhenRead #Means: what will be done when the prop is being read.
{
return ww
}
WhenWrite #Means: what will be done when the prop is being write.
{
ww = value
}
}
NOTE:If you miss any value, it will become Read Only\Write Only.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Default types(in red)
App commands
Using App #Using acts like with of visual basic.
{
.Run – runs a new instance of app
.Shutdown – End all instances of application
End (doesn’t needs to type or use app) – close the current instance of app.
}
ref
A class can’t refer to themselve – use this instead
/ref
My namespace was replace by Me namespace
Properties aren't separated by dot and yes, by a hiphen.
properties\funcs returning values are in boxes
Arguments are in braces

This is a RECOMMENDING of a IDE if someone want.
|
|
|
|

A couple of points. If you are recommending something, it's customary to put a link in. Also, a programming language is not an IDE. I can't see anywhere in your post that refers to an IDE.
