hi,
i need to access different servers providing same web service interface. when i want to access them i need to create two different web references.
when i access each of them i create instance of the webservice link and invoke a method.
i need to parse the 'return' object that i get it when i invoke a web service. the problem is i need to parse it separately the returns from two different webservices because of classCast problem.
most probably i am doing something wrong. how do i update my code so that i have common parsing and invocation methods for both of these services with same web service interface.
regards,
rnv

Hi there,
We have a web application written in asp.net (1.1). Without going
into too much detail, we use a DLL to communicate with the database and
also a couple of webservices. When we deployed version 1, everything
deployed OK on our webserver. We deployed the application and 1 webservice
under default web site, the other webservice (3rd party supplied) is on
another server and services many other application in our organisation
sucessfully.
Recently we have tried to deploy version 2, but this time we have assigned
another IP address to the web server and tried to install the application
under a new website. Everything looked OK the application installed OK and
most of the functionallity works just fine but 1 or 2 of the webservice calls
fails with the error:
"Index was outside the bounds of the array"
I get this error on both webservices, on specific webmethods, but it DOES
work OK on default website....
Any help on this would be appreciated

The error message is not at all specific for web services. The error is plainly as the message says; somewhere there is an array, and an attempt is made to access an item at an index that is outside the bounds of the array.
Does the error message come from the code calling the wbe service, or does the error message come from the code executed in the web service?

Hi there,
Thanks for your interest.
It looks like the web service returns no data and the calling code is falling over when populating a grid. As I have stated earlier, the code runs fine from 'default' website.

You have to specify for what class you want to call the ValueOf method.
cust_dob = Date.valueOf(year + "-" + month + "-" + day);

When a user clicks on a download button, it should popup an window asking for the type of file(it may contain dropdown list with list of values populated from a database). Based on the selection, the corresponding file format to be downloaded. How to incorporate the same in ASP.Net and how to invoke a message box like a normal application and also how to capture the command button clicked on the dialog box?
Thanks in advance

As the dialog should be displayed on the client side, you can't use ASP.NET to do it. The ASP.NET code is run on the server, using a dialog box would display it on the server, not on the client.
You have to use javascript to open a window with a page that let's the user do the selection.

The first page opens in about four seconds, the second in about 20 seconds.

hi,
i have developed a .net xml web service in C#. This web service will be used by another program developed by another company. This company expects my web service's WSDL file in a customized format of standard .net web service WSDL.
Such customizations of porttype tag name attribute, port tag name attribute and so on...
I nearly changed all required tag names and attributes of WSDL by .net attributes in code.
But I could not change input/output tags message attributes, and i need to change these attribute values. I searched for that in google and msdn but found nothing. i need to change the port tags to this values:
<portType name="DispatchSMSImpl">
<operation name="dispatchSMS">
<input message="tns:dispatchSMS" />
<output message="tns:dispatchSMSResponse" />
</operation>
</portType>
<message name="dispatchSMS">
<part xmlns:partns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" type="partns:string" name="String_1" />
</message>
<message name="dispatchSMSResponse">
<part xmlns:partns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" type="partns:string" name="result" />
</message>
Are there any attributes that can magically change the input message and output message attributes?
Or with any other method?
thanks.

Hi every1,
Actually i am doing a parsing of web log files.....n there r 2 probs
1-web log fields are not predetermined especially in the case of w3c format... now how can i determine the order of the fields, that is placement of date/time, user ip etc.
will ask u the second one afterwards...
bye bye
|
|
|
|
|
The best place to find out about the w3c format is to go to THE SOURCE and read the working draft. That way, you will know the log file format, know how to determine the order of the fields, and can parse it efficiently.

What do u mean "configure" here??? MS Access is just as a backend DB...just simply install it and create DB and coding something to connect to DB...

I'm new to the development of web sites and web based applications; have a lot of Unix/C++ development experience, but not much VS or .NET. Anyway, I'm wanting to develop a web site but confused about the differences and tradeoffs between three different Microsoft toolsets: Front Page 2003, Visual Web Developer 2005, and Microsoft's Web Matrix. I believe that VWD and Web Matrix are both front-ends for ASP.NET, but unsure of the differences between the two. As for Front Page 2003, not sure if it employs ASP.NET technology, and whether it affords greater flexibility than the other two options (am assuming it does). Would appreciate any thoughts that might help me to understand the differences between the three. Thx...

Is a piece of crap, useless for anything of any depth.

I'm not sure either, but for full fledged development, you want Visual Studio, the Web Developer is a pared down version.
shedrick wrote: not sure if it employs ASP.NET technology
No.

I am not sure on the other two ( in terms of differences ), but I'd go Visual Web Developer Express, because it's free and will get you started in ASP.NET, which is the way to go.

Also... Web Matrix is still based on framework 1.1, VWD uses 2.0. WebMatrix doesn't use CodeBehind files, VWD does. and there are other differences.
I think VWD is actually replacing WebMatrix as a free development tool.
Wrong information?? please let me know so I don't go around lying people! :P

Thanks, Daniero. I really appreciate your insight. If I'm understanding correctly, there's nothing that Web Matrix (nor Front Page 2003??) can provide that VWD (or the full VS.NET suite of tools) will not also provide (e.g., FP 03's ODBC DB interface)?
Thx/

There is a WEB page ! That analyze SQL request, and in certain conditions of those results have to return to user JavaScript window (either window.open or modal) with warning, and then redirect user onto main_page.HTML for example. How To Implement it ?
