I'll give my 2 cents for VB.NET, I'm using it for Intranet development because I have to support an application that is based on VB.NET.
You didn't mention if this was in-house project or a commercial project.

When you must not use a web server, you can opt for .NET Remoting - but on the client side, you'll need a "normal" application to communicate with your server.

I want to develop a page using MVC. The tricky thing is, the page should be an usercontrol which will have a list of static standard controls like textbox, radio button, drop downlist, checkbox etc. There will be multiple models, each models have different set of controls.
So for example, Model1 will be having one radiobox, one textbox, and Model2 will be having two radiobox, two checkboxes etc.
Finally it should be rendered appropriately in the view.
How can I do this? Any article towards this would be great.
Thanks in advance,

Hi everyone,
I have a business site that I need to secure.
I wrote the site in ASP and the platform is IIS 7.
I need that the users must login to see the web pages and the photos.
I mean that just authorized users will have access.
The first way i thought is to make ASP session after validating the user and password of each try via SQL database, this is good way I think and I know to do so.
Now by this way any anonymous user will not have any access to webpages, but the problem is that if the user will type direct photo URL like mydomain.com/images/1.jpg any user have access and even anonymous can see them.
I need that only sessioned users will have access, those that not authorized, I want to deny.
How can I do it?
Your help will very appreciated as I tried so many searches and didn't find anything helpful.
Thank you!

Johny, thank you for your reply.
I checked and it seems that this is the solution for my case.
Do you know if this example also available with SQL provider as well?
thanks.

What is CSS Hacks and the types and use?

CSS hacks are used to make the code cross browser compatible. You can apply CSS hacks to make the code run well in IE if it is designed for mozilla.

Write a Crystal or SSRS Report to display the results of your query.
That report can then be exported to pdf or printed...

I have an intern updating our website, which was tossed together by people who know nothing about websites using Web Expressions. The intern is using Dreamweaver - the latest and greatest just installed today - to do this work, but I expect problems when she starts the project. Heck, I tried updating this same site a year ago using Visual Studio, and it couldn't open the thing. What can I do to make this painless for the lady?

Well that explains a lot.
I'm surprised it couldn't be opened in VS though. I've gone back and forth between Expression and VS for several projects, though they were Silverlight and WPF applications.
There is this little piece I saw that you might want to check into. Otherwise, she's an intern, life is supposed to be difficult for them
"Support for ASP,NET server behaviors was removed from Dreamweaver in CS4. However, if you need to re-enable that functionality, it's included as an extension in the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5\configuration\DisabledFeatures (Windows 64-bit - remove the (x86) for 32-bit). On a Mac it's in /Applications/Adobe Dreamweaver CS5/configuration/DisabledFeatures.
Use the Extension Manager to install the ASPNet_Support.mxp extension."

I’m working on creating a toolbar plugin for Internet Explorer. I can find many examples and tutorials to get me started but nothing on one particular piece of functionality I'd like to implement.
What I’d like is a small pop up window displaying information to appear when I click one of the buttons on my toolbar. I want it to look similar to the "browser action" pop ups that can be displayed by a Chrome extension or the popups that appear when you click "Suggested Sites" and "Web Slice Gallery" in IE9. I envisage creating the popup's contents in HTML but I am prepared to use anything that works.
If anybody can direct me towards a tutorial or an example or offer any other advice then it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm very confused by some strange behaviour I'm having with formatting on the default browser on my Android phone (it's running ICS). I haven't tried it on other smartphones. I'm assuming it's a bug, but I suppose there's the chance that it's not (although it seems unlikely).
If I have something like this:
<div>
Lots of text here
</div>
Then (if the text is long enough) the text doesn't extend the whole div but only around 1/3 or 1/2 of the way (and wraps around the shortened width). However, if I change it to this:
<div style="background-color: #fff;">
Lots of text here
</div>
The text does extend the whole div and wraps around. The only difference is that I set the background-color property. Is there a proper "accepted" way to avoid this behaviour in the first case? Explicitly setting the background-color to transparent does not fix the problem.

Did you test it on IE?
You didn't mention the browser name
there is several more issues:
background-color- i dont know about it
I use background all the time
and hexa value should have to be 6 bytes i.e.
<div style="background:#000fff;">
Lots of text here
</div>
the above one is correct syntax
|
|
|
|
|
They are both using correct syntax - "background" is shorthand for all the individual background properties[^] and there are several ways you can specify colours in CSS, including 3 or 6 digit hex RGB: CSS colour reference[^]
