Hi,
Anyone knows where can I search for domains by number of characters? for example, I want a domain with a max of 8 characters? I tried GoDaddy but it's not allowing to specify the no of chars?

hi friend,
Use this link to convert video files into flv format.

Or you could just upload your video to YouTube, then play it back and snatch the FLV from your cache.
Or u8se one of the many many free and not-so-free programs to do it.

Greetings,
I’m uncertain of the right forum for this question, so apologies if it is misplaced.
My organization has been working with a series of small, custom built “CMS” tools to manage some of the content on our site. These tools save database information as well as images to the file system of the web server. Example: we have an actor bios section that lists the roles and plays of the performers (stored in SQL Server) and includes an image of the performer (saved to the file system with a varchar pointer to the image in the database). This worked well for us in past years, but we have recently moved to a load balanced environment and it has introduced some complexity. The two web servers are using a shared database, so that part is easy. However, they have separate file systems which are both synced to a third box (a staging environment). The staging server has it’s own database. This causes a couple problems: it means that anything uploaded to one server through the tools will be missing the image in the file system on the second server, and more importantly it means that unless the staging server also has the data entered along with the image that when we do a sync from staging to live it obliterates the images on the live environments. For the time being, we are entering everything on the staging environment and syncing all of the files and database content at once (I’m using SQLBulkCopy to move the relevant tables from staging to live). This creates undesirable limitations for our Marketing department, however, who are accustomed (and rightfully) to being able to make on-the-fly changes to low-risk content in the live environment without ITS intervention.
Whew.
So my question finally is how do I reconcile the staging database/live shared database and the file system issues such that my Marketing group can make content changes easily in the live, load-balanced, environments. Ideally, I wanted to be able to have them enter all the data as well as images on the staging site and “make them live”, copying both the data and relevant images to the file systems of both web servers. I have not found a way to be on one web server and, using a CMS-like web tool, copy an image to a different web server (perhaps with good reason…).
I am using ASP.NET 3.5, Visual Studio 2010, and SQL Server 2008. The site runs in IIS7. We code in C#.
Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide.

guys;
i have in the form several sumit buttons, how can i distinguish between them?
thank you;

That depends a bit on what type of a button you are using. But if it is a input of the type button then you can give it a name. This name will be the parameter the value will be under in the POST or GET data.
Please note that the button should be inside the form tags for this to work.

thank you, sir;
but lets take some case to claerfy somthing:
<from id="form1" name="form1" method="post" >
<input type="text" id="textbox1" name="textbox1" />
<input type="submit" id="button1" name="button1" />
<input type="text" id="textbox2" name="textbox2" />
<input type="submit" id="button2" name="button2" />
</form>
when this form is post, how can i determin the control which caused the postback?

With the type input='submit' the name and value of that input are also sent to the server. But not of any other buttons with type submit. So clicking on button2 would result in the followin querystring:
<br />
myform.html?textbox1=somevalue&textbox2=somevalue&button2=somevalue<br />

thank you, sir;
i that is what i was asking for

I don't think the button ID and text are sent to the server via the query string on a postback.

Hi,
I have a requirement in which, i need to import session of IE to Firefox.
I checked the Session Manager plugin in Firefox, but it is only Firefox limited.
This requirement came from an application that is hard-core written on Login to run for IE browser and says HTTPS session error by Servlet if any other browser is used. Solution to run on other browsers, say Firefox would be to import session from IE ton Firefox.
Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Ok how do you define a session. As the thing the server keeps track of in which you can store server side data for the duration of the visit or as in the session cookies which will persist for as long as the user keeps the browser open.
If it is the first then that should be relatively easily. The server side session is usually kept track of in a sessionid cookie, or a sessionid parameter in the request. You could pass this along from one browser to another, but you would be opening up the application to a possibility to hack it.
If it is the cookie type of session it becomes a bit more difficult, you could serialize the cookies in the session to the server using IE and store them there pending a second call from Firefox. During this second call you could set all the cookies back into the session. But this is a bit tricky.

Hi,
I use the wsdl command to generate the client proxy for the java web service. And the service contain only one method and it like this:
[System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapDocumentMethodAttribute("", RequestNamespace="namespacess", ResponseNamespace="namespacess", Use=System.Web.Services.Description.SoapBindingUse.Literal, ParameterStyle=System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapParameterStyle.Wrapped)]
[return: System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute("return", Form=System.Xml.Schema.XmlSchemaForm.Unqualified)]
public string execute([System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute(Form=System.Xml.Schema.XmlSchemaForm.Unqualified)] string arg0) {
object[] results = this.Invoke("execute", new object[] {
arg0});
return ((string)(results[0]));
}
I create a custom SoapExtension class that is used to calculate the serialize and deserialize time when calling this method. I found that serialize will take more than 2000
Milliseconds. The soap serialization take much time and it's not acceptable.
the soapextension class is like this:
public class TraceSoapExtension : SoapExtension
{
public override void ProcessMessage(SoapMessage message)
{
string methodname = message.MethodInfo.Name;
string tmpInfo = "Call web method: " + methodname + " ";
switch (message.Stage)
{
case SoapMessageStage.BeforeSerialize:
stc.Reset(); stc.Start();
tmpInfo = tmpInfo + "Before the soap message serialize: " + Environment.NewLine +
"Time is: " + System.DateTime.Now.ToUniversalTime().ToString("MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss.ffffff");
break;
case SoapMessageStage.AfterSerialize:
stc.Stop();
tmpInfo = tmpInfo + "After the soap message serialize: " + Environment.NewLine +
"Time is: " + System.DateTime.Now.ToUniversalTime().ToString("MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss.ffffff");
tmpInfo += " Client serialize stop watch take time: " + stc.ElapsedMilliseconds;
break;
case SoapMessageStage.BeforeDeserialize:
stc.Reset(); stc.Start();
tmpInfo = tmpInfo + "Receive soap message before deserialize: " + Environment.NewLine +
"Time is: " + System.DateTime.Now.ToUniversalTime().ToString("MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss.ffffff");
break;
case SoapMessageStage.AfterDeserialize:
stc.Stop();
tmpInfo = tmpInfo + "Receive soap message after deserizlie: " + Environment.NewLine +
"Time is: " + System.DateTime.Now.ToUniversalTime().ToString("MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss.ffffff");
tmpInfo += " Client deserialize stop watch take time: " + stc.ElapsedMilliseconds;
break;
default:
break;
}
CommonUtil.Logger.Info(tmpInfo);
}
}
So what's happened when the do the soap serialization? Why is it so slowly? What can I do to improve the performance?
thanks,
Eric

Hi All,
I work on a web application that has Excel and Word documents in it.
At the moment when a user opens these documents in IE9 they get presented with a dialog box asking:
What do you want to do with "filename"?
The user is presented with Open, Save and Save As as the options.
Unlike previous versions of IE there is no check box to tick to remember the user's choice so it comes up every time.
I really need to get rid to this box. Does anyone know how to disable it?
Thanks
Tom
Cheers

OK this turned out to be very simple but I thought I'd publish the fix any way.
Basically, despite the fact that IE 9 doesn't have the check box previous versions of IE have that enables you to save your decission of what to do with a file of a particular type it doesn't mean it doesn't check the registry to see if an old choice (from a previous browser) isn't stored there. So the fix is to replicate the storage of a previous version of IE into the registry of the machine on which IE 9 is running. In my case it went as follows:
If it's not there already create the following key path in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\AttachmentExecute\{0002DF01-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
Inside the InternetExplorer.Application GUID key create a list of binary values using the COM name of the document opening application as a title.
In my case (Office 2003):
Excel.Sheet.8
PowerPoint.Show.8
Word.Document.8
If the values are 0000 the the application will open without asking the user.
Cheers
Tom

you can try IFrame to show word or Excel document.

Iframes are done on the server side. They have NOTHING to do with this question.

I could experiment, but the propagation time makes that a pain..
I have a WebSite - Domain: MySite.com that is hosted on HostA
Name server ns1.hosta.com
ns2.hosta.com
I also have another site - TempSite.com that is hosted on HostB
Name server ns1.hostb.com
ns2.hostb.com
I want to have the web domain mySite.com to point to the site on HostB. The TempSite.com domain will be parked and the content of the site on HostA will be retired.
Which name server do I change? Are there any other considerations?
<Answer: Create a new website on hostb with the domain name required (MtSite.com), change the name servers on hostA to those supplied by hostB - Bada Bing.>

I'm curious as to which is considered better accessibility design: tailoring your page layout to work with newer zoom abilities (which effectively resizes pixels, making everything on the page -- text, graphics, frames, etc. -- larger or smaller) or to stay with the older text resizing design (which resizes font size while leaving other objects on the page unchanged)?
