Hello everyone.
I have a basic page with a WebPartManager, a couple of WebZones and a few web user control acting as webparts inside those zones.
Everything work properly if not for the borders.
I want to get rid of the borders that are around the webPart.
I've tried several things, i mean, i've spent 2 hours searching on the net.
I'm not even sure how to solve this, quickly speaking.
last set of code i tried was this:
foreach (WebPart we in this.mainWebPartManager.WebParts)
{
we.BorderWidth = 0;
we.BorderStyle = BorderStyle.None;
we.BorderColor = System.Drawing.Color.White;
}
foreach (WebPartZone we in this.mainWebPartManager.Zones)
{
we.BorderWidth = 0;
we.BorderStyle = BorderStyle.None;
we.BorderColor = System.Drawing.Color.White;
}
Basically, i run trough my webPartManager and try to get rid of the borders of the zones and the webpars. so far, no good.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am displaying context sensitive information based on an onclick event. I want to position the information box close to the control and the following javascript code works in most browsers but does not work in FF.
document.getElementById('text').innerHTML = textval; // fill in context sensitive text to display
x = event.clientX + document.body.scrollLeft + 10; // get the mouse left position
y = event.clientY + document.body.scrollTop; // get the mouse top position
document.getElementById('display').style.display="block"; // display the pop-up
document.getElementById('display').style.left = x; // set the pop-up's left
document.getElementById('display').style.top = y; // set the pop-up's top
If I specify top and left displacements for the div in CSS and not try to dynamically set the position it works and is displayed in the proper fixed displacement on the page.
If I try to dynamically set the position it doesn't work in FF and I get the errors below.
Warning: Error in parsing value for property 'left'. Declaration dropped.
Source File: http://mydomain.com/mywebpage.html
Line: 0
Warning: Error in parsing value for property 'top'. Declaration dropped.
Source File: http://mydomain.com/mywebpage.html
Line: 0
I can test for Netscape browser type and display the information in a fixed position for it and dynamically positioned information for all others but that is a compromise that would force a different user experience based on browser type.
Workable but not the ideal solution as I would prefer that all viewers see the same presentation.
Any insight into this problem would be greatly appreciated.

By the way Code Project also gets similar types of errors on FF:
Warning: Unknown property 'text-overflow'. Declaration dropped.

Line: 245
Warning: Error in parsing value for property 'height'. Declaration dropped.

Apparently these are not a problem for CP.
I have been told that they are style sheet, and not javascript, errors.
Maybe that is true for CP but in my case when I specift a fixed top and left style in CSS there is no error generated.
When I try to dynamically assign these values I get the errors and the script fails to render in either the fixed or dynamic position.
It just fails to render at all.

You forgot to specify a unit.
var display = document.getElementById('display');<br />
display.style.left = x + 'px';<br />
display.style.top = y + 'px';

Good catch.
That cleared up the problem.
Thank you.

Are you working in MS-Access project or Web project that is using MSAccess as an backend??
If your project is written in MS-Access, forget about Javascript.
If not, we can continue ...
ankur0101 wrote: Your IP : [label with Java script]
I'm not sure it can be done with pure Javascript. I used to do that from ASP.NET code.
Example with (ASP.NET),
Request.UserHostAddress();
OR.
Context.Request.ServerVariables ["REMOTE_ADDR"]
OR.
Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR");
Example with (PHP),
var ip = '<!--#echo var="REMOTE_ADDR"-->';<br />
<br />
alert("Your IP address is "+ip);<br />
Ref: http://javascript.internet.com/user-details/ip-address.html[^]
Example with pure Javascript (I haven't tried yet so not sure whether it gonna work or not)
function yhostip(){<br />
if((navigator.appName == "Microsoft Internet Explorer") && <br />
((navigator.appVersion.indexOf('3.') != -1) || <br />
(navigator.appVersion.indexOf('4.') != -1)))<br />
document.write("Not with MS IE 3.0/4.0");<br />
else {<br />
window.onerror=null; <br />
yourAddress=java.net.InetAddress.getLocalHost(); <br />
yourAddress2=java.net.InetAddress.getLocalHost(); <br />
yhost=yourAddress.getHostName(); <br />
yip=yourAddress2.getHostAddress();<br />
document.write("Your host name is "+yhost);<br />
document.write("<br>Your IP address is "+yip); <br />
}<br />
}

Try this code ~
navigator.appName
More Info : Browser detect[^]
ankur0101 wrote: Time : [label with Java script]
Date : [label with Java script]
What wrong with Date() function?
For example ~
document.write(Date());
If you need more info about Date, check-out here.

Hi i created a simple web site for my gp practice. It has a guestbook feature which stores the entries into a table in MS access d.b. (form.mdb). the web site also has admin section , which i log into to view d.b. entries ,(username and password is kept in another table in the d.b.)
I discovered that someone has been hacking into my d.b using SQL
injection. they actually had the nerve to tell me what they were using.
would anyone know how to prevent such an attack?
My ISP is webfusion professional.

Can you not password protect the database and encrypt all of the connection details?
|
|
|

Hi,
I'm not much of a programmer, how would i do this? Password protect in Access?
|
|
|
|
|
Whoa! Been a while. Something like Tools, Security. There are some options under there that will help: at the very least set a password and REMEMBER IT (AFAIK there is no longer any way to recover a forgotten Access password). I suggest a brief RTFM around this and then you should be able to protect your database from prying idiots. You should also consider protecting your connection strings. Consider asking your web host for specific advice: they should be willing to help.

Setting a password on the database is good, but that doesn't do anything at all to protect against SQL injection.
Read the article that Andy linked to.

But how do I knw which one to call and when??

You don't. Place them on the page in order of preference; in other words anything in the last file will take precedence over a file declared earlier as will any declaration you make in each file. Further if you have, for instance, markup like this:
...label cssclass="second first"...
The css in first will override anything similar in second. So second says that the text color should be red but first says it should be blue then first will win.
If you only want to use a css file depending on circumstances then you could do something like: (in master page)
<br />
private void CreateMetaTags()<br />
{<br />
HtmlMeta htmlMeta = null;<br />
HtmlHead htmlHead = (HtmlHead)Page.Header;<br />
<br />
htmlHead.Title = ApplicationAttributes.AssemblyTitle;<br />
<br />
htmlMeta = new HtmlMeta();<br />
htmlMeta.Name = "Content-Type";<br />
htmlMeta.Content = "text/html; charset=utf-8";<br />
htmlHead.Controls.Add(htmlMeta);<br />
<br />
htmlMeta = new HtmlMeta();<br />
htmlMeta.Name = "Description";<br />
htmlMeta.Content = ApplicationAttributes.AssemblyTitle;<br />
htmlHead.Controls.Add(htmlMeta);<br />
<br />
htmlMeta = new HtmlMeta();<br />
htmlMeta.Name = "Keywords";<br />
htmlMeta.Content = ApplicationAttributes.AssemblyTitle;<br />
htmlHead.Controls.Add(htmlMeta);<br />
<br />
string strStyle = @"~/CSS/Screen.css";<br />
HtmlLink htmlLink = new HtmlLink();<br />
htmlLink.Attributes.Add("rel", "stylesheet");<br />
htmlLink.Attributes.Add("type", "text/css");<br />
htmlLink.Attributes.Add("media", "screen");<br />
htmlLink.Href = strStyle;<br />
htmlHead.Controls.Add(htmlLink);<br />
<br />
strStyle = @"~/CSS/Print.css";<br />
htmlLink = new HtmlLink();<br />
htmlLink.Attributes.Add("rel", "stylesheet");<br />
htmlLink.Attributes.Add("type", "text/css");<br />
htmlLink.Attributes.Add("media", "print");<br />
htmlLink.Href = strStyle;<br />
htmlHead.Controls.Add(htmlLink);<br />
<br />
htmlLink = new HtmlLink();<br />
htmlLink.Attributes.Add("rel", "shortcut icon");<br />
htmlLink.Attributes.Add("type", "image/x-icon");<br />
htmlLink.Href = @"~/Images/favicon.ico";<br />
htmlHead.Controls.Add(htmlLink);<br />
}<br />
but put a condition on when you add whichever style sheet you need. In the example above I have one stylesheet for the screen and one for when I print the page that hides unwanted elements, but only if printed.
Hope that all makes sense.
