What do you mean by "popup link"? I think that you have to try to explain a bit clearer exactly what you want.

Like if they click an ad, after the ad pops up and is open, the webage they were orignally at where they clicked the ad link, a new button would appear allowing them to go to another webpage.

Put the button in the page and hide it using css. When you open the popup, show the button.

What I do is:
Put the path in web.config file. To get the path for root you say "~" for example:
if your project is Test.UI where the control is inside folder "Controls"
Then in Web.Config goes the following:
<appsettings>
<add key="some" value="~Control\control.asax">
Now call this key to give the path of this control in your application.
I am sorry if this does not make any sense
If you are talking about two complete different project, this will not work.

Well, you use Javascript. That's what AJAX is, you use Javascript to make the call, and Javascript to intercept the call and examine what is sent back.
rahul.net11 wrote: user navigate to other page

OK, so you don't know what AJAX is then ? AJAX is all about making calls to the server, without refreshing a page. You cannot use AJAX to do anything in your situation.
rahul.net11 wrote: How can i implemented this functionality using AJAX.
I recommend buying a book on AJAX, and not asking how to use things that you don't remotely understand yet. You have a specific problem, you don't know what AJAX does, why assume AJAX is the only possible way to solve it ?
rahul.net11 wrote: I am using asp.net 1.1.
Then you should probably ask in the ASP.NET forum, but the only way to do this in 1.1 is to put something on the query string as you go between pages, either the data itself, or if it's stored in the database, an Id you can use to get the data out of your data store, or to store it in the session. ASP.NET 2.0 offers cross page postback as well, but I wouldn't use that anyhow, it's a colossal hack.

Thanks Christian Graus,
that means we cant do this functionality using AJAX.
But is there any other way to do this functionality.Can i do it using only
javascript?
Thanks.

I recommend buying a book on web development and reading it. It's obvious you really don't understand how web based architecture fundamentally works. The answer I gave you outlines the best ways to do what you want, why would you feel the need to do it with javascript ?

Sounds like you want to auto-save the text back to the server periodically, and then restore it when the user returns to the page. This is fairly easy, but as CG suggested you'll want to spend some time learning the basics before jumping into it. Spend some time using GMail to get an idea of what a responsive, auto-saving, web-app looks like...

Yes, but can you blame them for doing so if that's the only legal way they can hire programmers they want at the rate they can afford?-- Nish on sketchy hiring practices

I think so, otherwise I hadn't provided it
The article describes a possible approach to save the state of a page in the session. When the page is requested, this state (for example the value of a TextBox) can then be restored.

you can ignore this file, this is a class diagram file. It is not necessary to run the application.

my converted code is as follow.
Protected Overloads Overrides Sub OnPreRender(ByVal e As EventArgs
If System.Web.HttpContext.Current IsNot Nothing Then
PullState()
PageState.SetPageState(Me, Me.PageState)
End If
MyBase.OnPreRender(e)
End Sub

It's not necessary - you can define it as protected - but this way it's guaranteed that you can not change the value in a base class.
I don't know how this is normally done in VB? (anyone?)
