Just a habbit I guess. I suppose display:none; would suffice?

Well, it depends on your needs - the two styles have different effects. visibility:hidden; will hide the element but still allow it to occupy space in the layout, while display:none; will prevent it from affecting the layout as well as hiding it.
|
|
|
|
|
Yes, I know the difference between the two, but our designer usually just uses both at the same time, so I've adapted the habbit.
Anyways - doesn't really address my initial query, so it is moveing offtopic

Sorry 'bout that. I haven't run into the problem you're describing, was just curious about the technique.

|

No problem - I don't really mind off-topic posts, but I think it better to stay on topic in such forums as this
I fixed the problem by re-coding the page, though - but I'm still curious to what caused the effect

What actually does this property do?, I can't find good docs for it in the MSDN.

Hi there,
You basically use this property to define the order of the accessible elements in the accessibility hierarchy[^] of the document. When you are tabbing the elements in the document, the next one which will receive the focus is determined based on its tabIndex property. In addition to the document provided in my previous post, you can also see the document[^] for more information.

I would like to show an html page inside an aspx page and it can be changed based on parameters. My constraint is that I should not use IFrame or Frame. Is there any other way?
Thanks in advance

There's no include directive in the ASP.NET like the classic ASP does so that you can use to include the html static page in a web page .aspx. So there are a couple of options that you might consider:
+ Use the classes defined in the System.IO namespace to read the html file and write the contents to the web page .aspx
+ Use the web user control .ascx, you simply copy the content of the html file in a web user control, and include the control in the web page .aspx.
+ Use the Server.Execute method to execute the html page, and write the output markups to the web page .aspx

Please help!!!
I created a DB by using MS Access, then public data on a dynamic web page.
However, to control and change a small record, example, a column data of a data table, I have no idea. (I do know about PHP)
My idea is public a list of products and their availability. then the users will change the availability amount of the product through their controlling the spinner. I also have no idea about put a spinner in. I had a glance at the code for this type of button, but I still cannot create one in the dynamic web.
Many thanks & kisses for those who help me!!

Hey there!
You can use document.write() method in javascript
make your header n footer in javascript and write on each page at appropriate section
Any systematic work reflects its significance for a long time, Though I m not totally against "The Prototyping".So let's discuss in depth...

Dear All,
I am using the IWebBrowser control as part of my project. My application browses to the internet. Whenever i browse to a certain web site, the url on the address bar does not change to match the current web page.
I am trying to get the current URL using the following method.
CString currentURL = m_webBrowser.get_LocationURL(); (where m_webBrowser is an instance of CExplorer1)
this only works if the url is manually entered in the address bar. however, If a certain web page is pursued through clicks, the above does not give any results.
In a nutshell,
can someone tell me how to retrieve the current URL of a particular web site being browsed ? (in both case, when the url is typed or if resulted from link clicks)
your suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Cheers

Hi there,
in order to explain the problem, I show the html first:
As you can see, just a simple list which when in place should assemble a horizontally aligned list of menu items. I used the following definitions in my stylesheet:
#NavigatorBlock #NavButtons
{
}
#NavigatorBlock #NavButtons ul
{
list-style-type:none;
padding:0px;
margin:0px;
}
#NavigatorBlock #NavButtons li
{
display:inline;
padding:0px;
margin:0px;
}
#NavigatorBlock #NavButtons li a
{
text-decoration: none;
padding:2px;
background-color:#D6E1FA;
}
#NavigatorBlock is a floating div with a fixed width. It works actually pretty fine. I still have to apply some padding and background images, but it seems to show up as expected.
My question is: The individual items in the ul should all be of the same size and fill up the width of the #NavigatorBlock. I've tried to use percentage values (I know how many items will be in there, but there is no effect. Can somebody help me out on this one? Any help is greatly appreceated.

Matthias,
You may want to check out Listamatic for excellent examples of using lists in different configurations using strictly CSS and HTML.

Anyone know if Visual Web Developer express supports debugging of standards
compliant javascript & DOM?
I looked at their feature page
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/vwd/features/html/default.aspx)
and it seems to indicate that only IE compatible code is supported.
The examples show VBScript (not javascript) being debugged.
|
|
|
|
|
It supports JScript though.

To answer my own post: yes it does debug javascript very nicely!
Only problem is I'm debugging a PHP app... a bit tricky because Visual Web Developer uses localhost:1072 to debug and you need localhost:80 to run PHP
