Where have you been the last year? Bayesian filters are the de facto method for filtering SPAM by classifying spam with a percentile representing the likelyhood that it is spam based on SMTP headers and content. There are already a TON of stuff - both free and not - that do this. One of the most popular is a plug-in for Outlook called SpamBayes.
There are also a lot of articles on Bayesian filters and most of the large ISPs (and many personal sites) use such an algorithm because - after a little training - it can filter about 99% of SPAM with only about 0.1% of false positives - or around there).

Well we ve all seen the multidesk freeware that helps group together windows and hides them suposedly as seperate virtual desktops.
Well it only helps in uncluttering the taskbar and nothing else
and basically all it does is group together window handles to either hide or show right
so i basically thought it as pretty lame
I was trying on how to build an app to indeed create virtual "MULTIPLE DESKTOPS"
where when switching between desktop indeed changes the icons on the desktop themselves
a feature that linux desktops serve
coz my desktop really does get pretty cluttered
----------------
if ive stated my objective clearly enough could anyone give me pointers on how to get the icons/objects in the desktop window
from spy++ ive found that the real desktop window is a SysListview32
so basically its a ListCtrl
thinking abstractly therefore its a ListView window whosn in LARGE ICONic view
so all i need in my program is the group the different icon elements in the list ctrl right
only i cant seem to do this
-----------------------------
any pointers on how i can do this??
or do u have any other ideas
if my basic premise is flawed please correct me
attaching a lame source snippet by which u can RESIZE the desktop window

Well, I'm just a humble MCAD, I don't have your impressive list of certifications. But from the courses I've done I can suggest the following....
1. Go back to your course notes for exam 70-310 or 70-320 and look them over - the answer is in there.
2. Your notes for exam 70-229 (as well as some other DB exams that I've not worked towards yet) should point you in the right direction.
3. Definitely your 70-229, 70-305 or 70-315 exam course notes will put you in the right direction there.

HI,
I want to run my application at windows startup.
I got the exe path by GetModuleFileName() and I wrote it to the registry(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wind
ows\CurrentVersion\Run). But my application has a file read and write in the first module. So this file operation is not working at startup.
Is it possible to do file manipulation at startup?
Or any Other way?
please reply...

I'd like to learn more about EnterpriseServices (no more theory, please... only comprehensive examples):
- How to implement basic distributed "patterns" (like "Stateful" and "Stateless" objects? is asynchronous communication possible?).
- Examples of synchronizations (with activities).
- Security (impersonating, delegating, etc.).
Does anybody has written any article? Or knowns a good book?
Thanks.

sir i have to hook the keyboard and get keydown event and which key is pressed and then intercept the wm_char message which is generated for that keydown event and change that particular character and translate that to my own character in extended ascii range.
Sir i have designed a font file and i included lot of new characters in the font file to accomadate more characters which Tamil language have.I can easily manage to access the 52 characeters in A_Z and a-z using normal keyboard , but i have included 200 characters .I am not using unicode for i am not using opentype font but only true type font.the remaining characters are in extended ascii range .Is it possibe to display them by changing the wm_char message.?
If possible then please help me how to intercept that wm_char message which is generated for keydown event and change the defualt character for that keydown event and replace that with my own character.
Thanks in advance

Blush. This may reflect my beginner's ignorance, but what the hell. When scanning various collection classes in the CLR, it seems that there are three basic ways to implement a foreach loop against the collection class:
1. Obvious -- e.g. string from StringCollection
2. Object and casting - e.g. foreach object foo in CollectionClass. In the
loop cast item = (ClassToCast)foo
3. Inheritance -- things like InnerArrayList in CollectionBase
Assuming what I say is true (what are the odds?), then it strikes me that a great article would be to describe hard and fast rules to tell one from the other. Plain and simple, right now, I get a headache looking at CLR collection classes. But, with a good article outlining good ways to discriminate different foreach-able techniques, then I'd really feel empowered.
Am I on to something? Or, is this more Microsoft documentation fog???

I'm running on memory here, but if I recall, the defining factor for making something "foreachable" is implementation of the IEnumerable interface. This is also one of the reason why foreach loops are so damned slow

As Jeremy said, it is all to do with the IEnumerable interface. For more information why not read this really great article.[^]

I have a fairly simple text template parser. It inserts custom data in place of placeholder tags, and allows custom sub-templates to be inserted based on dynamic conditions.
Anyone interested in this as an article?

What are the requirements? Does it have to be graphical? Does it need to work on multiple platforms? More importantly, what principles do they want you to focus on (data structures, etc.)?

There are many articles on datagrid but i have not yet found a proper, comprehensive one covering all the topics i feel will be generally required while using a datagrid.
Most of the UI in my trial project requires datagrid - but the requirement is in the belowmentioned format:-
1) only single row selection allowed i.e. user cannot select more than 1 row at a given time
2) cell contents non-editable i.e. does not go to edit more on clicking inside a cell
3) Should not display asterisk (append new / addnew) at the bottom of the datagrid
4) only particular columns sortable i.e. i do not want sorting for all the columns
5) customised column header text i.e. i want to display column names different from the default ones from the database
6) alternating colours / formatting for rows
7) set fixed column width which cannot be resized by user
8) Use of panel in the lower half of the page - this panel should display more details about the currently selected record
If there is already such an article(s), please do let me know the url for the same.

if someone has done something like what I need (that is an Access database viewer using DAO) and is kind enough to share the result of his/her work with someone who's just starting out in VC++, I would be extremely grateful. or, if someone could give me some pointers on how to do it, I would appreciate it just as much. thanks'!
hope someone will answer this.
i can't take this anymore! this is way too much pressure!

i need a project to work on..i have some free time and i wanna make a project...
i am thinking of programming windows using C#..
i want to make a project that will get me an all round tour of windows programming and C#..so that i can code in different areas of windows and c#..
hopefully i want to involve topics such as security,web-based communication, encryption etc.
if you guys can gimme a suggestion for a topic i will be very glad..
i dont really like graphics though..and prefer not working with it..unless its a necessary part of windows programming that is required for some important purpose...\
hope u can gimme some suggestions..
tks a lot

Sounds like you need something web-based involving uploads and secure logins or something like that. I suggest you look at some of the articles on this site. You might get some good ideas that way, and you'll certainly find some good tutorials on those subjects.
It's a bit hard to find a project that will cover the full range of areas of Windows programming, BTW. But you might find that you can cover most of them in, say, 3 different projects.
