You wanna do WHAT? I hope you're not serious about that. Sorry, I'm not waiting around 5 more minutes to shut down Windows...
The only place you do that is in the Logoff script. There is no shutdown script.

I was referring to the "5 minute video" example. If you want people to wait 5 minutes to shut down Windows, you're going to have a bunch of pissed off clients.
The question still stands - What do you want to do in the Logoff? You can't do anything between Logoff and Shutdown.

My configuration is like this :
Linksys DSL Router : 192.168.1.1 (255.255.255.0)
Windows Server 2003 : 192.168.1.250 (255.255.255.0)
Windows Server 2003 used as VPN Server with IPs
10.0.0.1 until 10.0.0.10.
Everytime a client is connected, the client
get the IP between 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.10
and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.255.
I want to route this IP 10.0.0.x to my DSL
router 192.168.1.1, so that the VPN user can
go to internet.
How to do this ?
Has someone did something like this before ?

Your IP address is reside in class A. The subnet mask should be 255.0.0.0.

Try to configure an IP address at the WAN section in your router. I'm not sure that it is work or not but you should try it first. For best solution, you should read your router manual.

But actually VS 2003 is installed
and after the Visual web developer 2005 is installed and uninstalled
I tryed uninstalling asp.net and reinstalling asp.net 1.1 , but no use

I also used to have a problem similar to your case. But I still could not solve the problem until i reformat my PC. But you should read this article[^] and try to solve it. Or use google to find the solution on the web. Good luck!

I am using Windows Server 2003 to dish out windows sessions to users via Remote Desktop.
When any user opens an RDP session, I need a way to identify their PC name from their RDP session. I have tried some NET VIEW commands and HOSTNAME from the Windows Server but they just return the name
of the Server. Any script, c# or other method that I could use to run from the RDP sessions
desktop or cmd prompt would be helpful.
1. User opens RDP
2. From within that window, need a way to identify their PC name, not the server PC name.
Any help at all would be appreciated

You should be able to use the environment variable 'CLIENTNAME'.

A client has recently upgraded from Windows 2000 Server (on single processor) to Windows 2003 Server (on dual processor). A windows service that I had written worked fine on 2000, but since the upgrade the service has been hanging and crashing. I cannot figure out why.
The service in question is a simple thing: it polls a directory regularly and if it finds the file it is looking for then it system calls a bat file to process the file. The bat file process is simple also and takes ~ 1 second to run.
On Win2003 Server, the service hangs at the point of calling the bat file.
Any suggestions? Is Win2003 inherently different to Win2000 in the way it runs services? Does the dual processor cause any issues?

In my opinion, you should use Event viewer to check the status of your system and what is the cause of the problem that cause your service could not run properly.

I have 2 identical PCs which will be running the exact same software and configuration. Both PC were purchased with OEM version of MS Windows XP pro. Both PCs need to be setup identically and will be running at different locations within the group I work for, on indepentant networks.
What I intend to do, is set up one PC then create an image of the PC and restore it onto the other PC. This will obviously mean that both PCs now have the same licence key for Windows XP. To keep things legal, I would want to delete the licence key from the 2nd PC and then enter the key that was supplied with the PC.
Can anyone tell me how to do this please?

As far as I know, OEM version of windows mean the operating system already install on this machine.

Based on your information, you might use disk duplication method to install this software. In my opinion, you should purchase a license of windows based on your demand and you won't have the problem with install this software when you try to use this method.
If you use unattendend installation (use answer file) to run automate setup, I think you won't have this problem because you could edit the answer for the specific copy of windows that you need to install.

Hi, I have download Free Basic Player of Real Player Software[^] and play some video file with extension *.rmvb as normal.
But it seem there is a problem occure since last week. Some video file that I download from internet with extension *.rmvb could not play with my Real player software. It display a message box inform me to update the software. I have check the real player website and download some fix and update successfully, but I still could not play the file that i download this week. But if I play the previous file that I download before, its play without a problem. Does anyone know about the solution to solve this problem?
