You are not specifying the security options.
For NT Authentication:
"provider=sqloledb;Data Source=SERVER;Initial Catalog=DATABASE;Integrated Security=SSPI;"
For Sql Authentication:
"provider=sqloledb;Data Source=SERVER;Initial Catalog=DATABASE;UID=SA;PWD=Pass"

Yes i added the security options and now i get the error 'SQL Server doesnot exist or access denied' . I m sure the connection string is okey but i doubt we need to configure SQL Server and its remote access properties which i dont find plus dont have any idea what to do & wat to change. So, u got da idea i wud b immensely grateful.

That looks like a conection problem,
First try to ping the server from Dos by it's name, it should at least resolve it's ip address
Then from the client machine try this:
Start
Run
CliConfg
And then set the "Default network library" to "TCP/IP"
If it still not working try
Telnet Server 1433
If it says that could not connect, then you have a network problem!

thanx n i tried every thing as u suggested. i tried pinging n it works plus moved to the second step whereby the Default network library is already set to "TCP/IP". And the 3rd one, there is no msg at all. it starts by saying connecting to the server and then disappears.
infact i wanted 2 say tht my network is a very small network n i m 100% confident it doesnt 've a problem. Probably i think i must use Sql Server authentication because during installation, i made the all authentication based on windows. Plus, i get the error "Login failed for user 'server\Guest'" now. i tried the sa login but failed to connect.
Any way thanks 4 ur support, pls lemme know further if u get any ideas.

There are probably more elegant ways of doing it, but one way that has worked for me is to create an example document in Word, save it as an xml file, and open the xml file with .net studio.
After that you can simply manipulate the xml file any which way you like, with your code, and finally save it programmatically as a Word doc.
My advice is free, and you may get what you paid for.

Hi,
I need some help in transmitting video data. I am using Visual Basic.NET
All the codes i have been seeing are in C, C++, or C#. Can somebody help me with thesame code in VB.NET
Thanks.

All the code you see will use DirectX. The C# code in particular is trivial to use from your app in a dll, and should not be hard to convert, either manually ( thus teaching you how it's done in VB ), or with an online or downloadable converter.

Hi, in vb6 if i want to delete a single line of code where the cursor is located, I need to press Ctrl+Y . So I have a question how could I do that in VB2005. Thank in advance.

if u move your mose to the left towards the line numbers, the pointer will change direction just before reaching the line numbers, clicking when the pointer is like this will select a whole line and can be used to select multiple, then you simply press delete. However, there may be a vb.net equivalent for what you are saying and perhaps google ca help you there.

I'm using VB.NET 2005. And I'm creating DataGridView of items one row each, you can create, edit or delete them, but I can only delete the item under the circumstance that no one has this item. What I want on the code is that the row can't be deleted if the code finds out someone has the item. The problem is that I can't stop the deletion of the row. How do I code to allow deleting a row or not?
Please offer any advice. Thank You Very Much

You how is your code supposed to know this?? What qualifies as "someone has this item"?? What item?? How is the status of who owns this item maintained?? Without knowing the answers to these questions, it's impossible to tell you anything useful.

You probably shouldn't try to stop the user from deleting the row, but simply fake it, by checking that "no one else has the item", when the user deletes the row and then call YourDataSet.RejectChanges() , if someone does. In your code it will happen so fast that to the user it looks like he didn't delete the row.
Good luck,
Johan

How to make a button default-button on a dialogbox????
(Jameel)

Set the DialogResult property to OK and set the property of the form ( I think it's OKButton or AcceptButton ) to be that button. One causes the dialog result to be set when the button is clicked, the other causes the button to be clicked when you press enter.

Yeah, that's about the slowest way to do it. A better method would be to add each button to a hashtable, or some other key/value pair collection and use the Key you get as the key to get at the button (value) in the collection. No for/next loop required.

Isnt it a collection
"dim button as myButton= mykeyboard.controls(key.tostring)"
actually "myKeyboard" is a user control and is made of user control "myButton"... cant i directly point a button with in the keyboard????
plzz explain what collection i can use and how. i m

I already did!! A HashTable!
Dim buttonsCollection As New HashTable()
buttonsCollection.Add(Keys.A, MyAKeyButton)
When you want to get at that button when the suer presses the A key:
Dim b As Button = buttonsCollection(Keys.A)
or something like that. It's written off the top of my head, so it could be a little wrong...
