In the TextChanged() of my textbox I have the following code.
If TextBox1.Text <> "" Then
Dim intRow As Integer = DataSet11.Tables(0).DefaultView.Find(TextBox1.Text)
If intRow > -1 Then
Me.DataGrid1.CurrentRowIndex = intRow
Else
Me.DataGrid1.CurrentRowIndex = 0
End If
End If
At runtime this will locate the record in the grid, but only if the textbox.text exactly matches the field in the table.
I would like the code to find the closest record that equals textbox.text.
For example, my table contains the following three records
bill
dave
david
When I type "dav" in the textbox it would find the record containing "dave".

That may work but it is not quite what I want. The perfect example of what I'm talking about is the Index Help window in VB .NET. As you type the window below increments to the closest match. It looks like they use a multi-line textbox but in my case I'm using a datagrid.

Hye Guys
I am USing vb.net 2003. My problem is
I have two Forms running togather and I want to run one procedure from FormA residing on Form B as a thread. but it gives me error that cannot run a thread from another thread.
Can any one help me on this issue

I think there are several ways to 'understand' you problem. I think you have two form in which you want to run a diffrent procedure :
frmA.ProcedureA() and frmB.ProcedureB()
If this is true, you can probably run ProcedureA() and ProcedureB() in seperate threads. If frmB is a child of frmA, then make sure not to open frmB as a dialog window, or make them a MDI child of frmMain or so... But once again, I don't exacly know what your problem is, can you explain a bit more to find a more accurate solution...

yes you are right. My situation is
I have MDI Main. then a Child form A and another form ChildB. Now MDI Main and Child A is open. on specific event say button click of ChildA , ChlidB will open. Now at this time I want to run a procedure XYZ() on MDI Parent Form as a thread and also need to show the Child B at the same time.
but have a problem saying cannot run a thread from another thread.

While I have been developing a windows app in vb.net, I add a toolbar to the main form. I also wrote "Application.EnableVisualStyles()" at the Sub New().
Then an amazing thing happend. I lost my icons for the toolbarbuttons at run time. But when I delete the line "Application.EnableVisualStyles()" I regained the icons. What's the wrong right there? How should I overcome it?

This is a bug in .Net 1.1, you have to call Application.DoEvents after EnableVisualStyles. Also you should use a Sub Main like this:
Shared sub Main
Application.EnableVisualStyles()
Application.DoEvents()
Application.Run(MyForm) '<-- Put the name of your main form here
End SubIf you use a Sub Main, don't forget to change the Startup Object to Sub Main in the Solution explorer -> Properties -> Startup Object.

Are you using datagrid or datagridview?
Datagridview seems to have more 'stuff' you can do to it.

Datagridview has just about taken over from datagrid in vb express 2005.
Get a free copy from Mircosoft website. I find datagridview much easier to handle and do with what I like.

I am trying to install an application developed in VB6 (English version) in
Win/2000 "SPANISH Version"
While installing the application it give error you are trying install
English Version of the DLL By removing SPANISH version ( something simliar
to that effect...)
Does anyone can pointout the SPANSIH version files for the following:
1) MSCPXL32.dll
2) msorcl32.dll
3) odbccp32.cpl
4) odbcint.dll
I have created thge package with IExpress & win/2000 (English) version many users are using.. NO PROBLEM.
Some how Cannot install Win/2000 Spanish
5) Does Microsoft has a Different MDAC for Spanish version of Window/2000?

Hi, I am trying to set the attributes for an entire tree for subfolders using VB 6.0, like it’s done in Explorer if you select “Apply changes to this folder, subfolder”.
The only way I can do this so far is to loop at each level. The following script is just getting me two levels down.
Does anyone a trick in changing the attributes on a folder that would replicate down to all levels of children? I have not found any posting where this was ever accomplished. So it would take a very smart person to figure this one out. ;- )
