Hi all,
I'm trying to figure out exactly how this contexthelp thing is supposed to work.
If I create an MDI or SDI app, it's all "just there" and I can do what I like with it. However I'm currently working on a Dialog Only app, which while giving me the cute little question mark in the title bar beside the minimize box doesn't seem to have anything else built in.
Can anyone give me a few pointers for getting that little questionmark to actually do something? I can't find anything in the msdn library (it only ever seems to mention MDI and SDI). Just something along the lines of:
Insert this code here - it does this
Insert that code there - it does that
Thanks in advance

Okay, getting there...
The WinHelp (pHelpInfo->dwContextId, HELP_CONTEXTPOPUP); does what it's supposed to (tested by simply putting it in a button), however I still can't get the questionmark on the dialog itself to do anything. I'm starting to feel it's missing something it probably shouldn't be.
The help for WS_EXCONTEXTHELP says:
Includes a question mark in the title bar of the window. When the user clicks the question mark, the cursor changes to a question mark with a pointer. If the user then clicks a child window, the child receives a WM_HELP message.
However, NOTHING happens when I click on the questionmark - no cursor change, nothing.
Am I missing something obvious or is my dialog just insane?

Hello,
I'm asking those who use or have used VMWare, if it's a reliable way of testing your application on multiple platforms?
Thanks!
|
|
|
|
|
Depends on what your application does, but I'd imagine for the vast majority of apps, it would be absolutely fine. The program shouldn't know the difference.

It simulates a PC with certain OS, this means that it's capable as let's say having a second pc, with the given configuration, so one may test his code on a single PC using VMWare instead of testing it on multiple platforms, I had certain bugs in my app, which I encountered on win2000, I made a vmware station with win2000 and got the same problem, made the fix, and it's working, so according to my experience it's great for testing purposes and up to this point for me is 100% accurate
Still waiting for more comments on the subject...

it is perfectly good.
i've already tested programs on Linux RedHat10, Mandrake9, Windows 98, 2000, NT, XP.
the network works fine, and the hardware is well simulated...
the only point that can cause a problem is if you don't have enough resources on you real machine...

I have created a class derived from CFileDialog. I am having trouble finding literature regarding accessing the member controls of the standard dialog.
Example: When the user changes the filter, I want the window to change the current folder. I have created an event handler that is called when the user changes the filter, but I do not know how to access member vairables that will force a change in the current folder.
This is one exmaple. there are toher properties I am intersted in modulating. Such as enabling and disabling folders etc.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

I want to make tokens of a char array and save it... into an array of tokens, something like the printf() instruction what can take an "unlimited number of statements.
printf("hi World %s %s %s....",var1, var2, var3,....);
It means the array what holds the tokens is unsized...(maybe)
Please someone can help me???
I need it for a project in which i am.

Are variable-argument lists what you want? Lookup va_list , va_start , va_end , and va_arg in MSDN.

Hi people,
Is there some way to discover the process that send a print job? For example, based on the print job id, find the process id...
Thanks a lot,

How would I go about getting CPoint point mouse location when in OnKeyDown (Mouse isn't moving so no OnMouseMove)

GetCursorPos()

GetCursorPos gives you a POINT/CPoint where the cursor is currently.
This is tyically good enough though.
Being purist, you should use GetMessagePos which tells you where the mouse
was when the message you are dealing with got into the message queue. But it is a little
more fiddly to work with.

hi, does any one know how to put a small java script code (about 10 lines) into a c code script?
what i am doing is creating a web page (by putting html in the c code)
and it works but now i want to add java in and it does not work.
i thought it was like this:
strcat( buffer,
"It is now "
"<!--"
"var currentTime = new Date()"
"var day = currentTime.getDate()"
"var month = currentTime.getMonth()"
"var year = currentTime.getFullYear()"
"document.write(day + / + month + / + year)"
"" );
any suggestions?
thanks

|
|
|
|
what do you mean about "work"?
need Java code similar to your c code as bellow?
String sBuf="
|
|
|
|
|
Define "does not work." How big is buffer ? Don't the lines need to be terminated with a \n character so that it is output correctly.

by doing this, the only thing that shows up on the web page is the top part of the page i created, then "It is now" and then on the following line is "variable status" but what i wanted it to do is after "It is now" it should show the correst date on the webpage.
in powerpoint this javascript works.
.
.
.
strcat( buffer,
" "
"It is now "
"<!--"
"var currentTime = new Date();\r\n"
"var day = currentTime.getDate();\r\n"
"var month = currentTime.getMonth();\r\n"
"var year = currentTime.getFullYear();\r\n"
"document.write(day + / + month + / + year);\r\n"
"\r\n"
" VARIABLE STATUS "
.
.
.
thanks...;)

Show me the relevant pieces of your code that create the HTML file and then write to it.
