Use a CListCtrl and set as icons(LVS_ICON), now you can show the thumbnail image.

yes,I want to display a bitmap as thumbnail in window.and I m using the win32 and c++.

You have 2 options
1. Draw the thumbnail from bitmap using DC in the dialog, if you dont like to use CListCtrl.
2. As suggested, you can use ListCtrl, as suggested ns ami.

Horrible and wrong method.
The right method is with COM.

If you'd like to show your file as a picture in explorer's thumbnail mode, maybe you can fill the 'zoomed' image data(bmp/jpg/...) in file header.

Windows uses Win32 COM (Thumbnails interfaces)
You can ask on Adv. Win32 api newsgroup :
news://nntp.aioe.org/comp.os.ms-windows.programmer.win32
or
http://groups.google.com/group/comp.os.ms-windows.programmer.win32/topics?lnk=srg
for official code (MS) to display thumbnails.

Hi,
Private Sub Command1_Click(ByVal eventSender As System.Object, ByVal eventArgs As System.EventArgs) Handles Command1.Click
Dim barcord1 As String
barcordreader = New HANBARCORDLib.barcord
barcordreader.ReadBarcord("c:\image.raw")
barcordreader.GetBarcord1(barcord1)
Text1.Text = barcord1
End Sub
End Class
the variable, barcord1 is declared by "String".
And it is possible that a parameter of the method, "barcordreader.GetBarcord1(BSTR*)".
But I don't know how to change the code by Visual C++.
I actually made it like this :
BSTR barcord1[64]={NULL,};
barcordreader.GetBarcord1(barcord1);
but it doesn't work.
I want to get result as a type of string.
please help me.
Thanks for reading..

BSTR barcord1;
barcordreader.GetBarcord1(&barcord1);

You name the price...will send it to your paypal immediately. Need a couple programs written...basic function program, 2 basic string programs, and 2 soon to be determined assignments along the lines of printing results I think. Pretty much need help with my homework. Should be super easy for a programmer, of which I am not. Get greedy, I have to get these in immediately, or risk failing a course thqat cost me a lot of money.

Sorry for this repost but I never found the solution.
Now I need to use struct as function parameter again and I am stuck with this error again and I cannot find anything about this in WWW.
I am adding a function with struct variable (using wizard function add) typing
Function(struct*) and I am getting this:
Function ($S1) in cpp and Function(struct *) in the h file.
Of course, the compiler complains about missing definition.
Is this a known bug?
Declaring a function manually gives same results.
void Test(struct * );
shows up in VC++ editor view as
Test($S1) immediately.
Do I need to use typedef?
Thanks for reading. Any constructive help as always is appreciated.
Thanks Vaclav

What is the name of the structure and where have you defined it?
You need to google first, if you have "It's urgent please" mentioned in your question.

I appears that the VC 6.0 wizard has a problem using struct as a function variable. If I add all the necessary code manually it works as expected,but in the file tab the VC editor cannot find the function definition.
It would be interesting to know if never VS have same problem.
For now call it hacked.
Here is "normal" definition / declaration I am using
Declaration
struct NewTest
{
int a;
}aa,bb,*CC;
struct TEST
{
int a;
}a,b,c,*d;
int Test(struct TEST );
void TestOne(struct NewTest *);
Definition
int CStructTestView::Test(struct TEST a)
{
return 0;
}
void CStructTestView::TestOne(struct NewTest *d)
{
}
I have no clue where did this &xxx junk came from.

Hi, guys, I'm writing simple tool for interest, like managing softwares, file association or IE history.
But when I get into this field, I find there are many information stored in files or registry. Like "index.dat" or "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Clients".
So I want to know, where I can get more information about such thing( registry about shell )?
Thanks in advance.

Firstly - stop cross-posting this all over the site.
Secondly - Sounds like you're trying to write some kind of spyware or worse. Actually, I'm rather sure about it. Get lost.

I don't where this should be post really, so this is my fault.
But what I want to write is just one assistant, I still got no reason to write things like you said.
In fact, I know 90% of it already from google or friends.
I just want to know where I can get official and overal topics about these.
MSDN talks some scattered.

In the moment, we have a multiple language software - including English, Chineses simple and trudition, Japanese, French, Korean and more in the future.
We used inno setup before.but it only supports english.
Now I need a unicode installation pack, user can select a language in install process.
Do you know which installation software can do this?
Thanks.

Hi everyone!!
I have a scientific C++ program which requires a good speed to run.(the program runs a lot of matrix and vector operations)
For doing that, I come across following options on the net:
1. Use of turbo C++
2. Use of Linux instead of window XP
My current system uses Dev C++ over Window XP.
Can I expect some speed increase using above options?
If so, would it be significant?
Thanks

I did read that the Intel compiler creates "best" (here in the meaning of fastest) code on Intel processors, compared to Microsoft's VC and GCC. Never used it myself and I don't have a link to an up-to-date statistics, Wikipedia mentions something about optimizations[^].
However, design and architecture improvements can give more dramatic improvements, e.g. reduce complexity in algorithms, profile for bottlenecks, rewrite for parallel processing on CPUs with multiple cores, outsource matrix operations to GPU... to name some possibilities. Those things are outside the possibilities of a compiler (automated tool) but could be worth to check.
Turbo C++ still exists?
Hope it helps.
