Why? It's not necessary, and may even lead to problems.

Is this supposed to be a helpful description?

int nmaxint = std::numeric_limits<int>::max();</int>
this line generates two compile errors when I built in vs2005 sp1.
error C2589: '(' : illegal token on right side of '::'
error C2059: syntax error : '::'
I don't think there are something wrong in this line.

sorry, I mean std::numeric_limits<int>::max(); the "<int>" part was ripped.

I think this error is coming because of the max() macro.
Try one thing. Just above the include of limit.h, put #undef max

Maybe you are right! When I choose the "Go To Definition" menu item in the context menu, the ide open "windef.h", not STL's limit.
It does work when I undef max.

I think you got to learn programming from the scratch. Read a beginners book like "Programming for Dummies". These book-series ("For dummies") is fine, read some too.
Or Hire a professional if you havent any clue how to program.

Can you not wait even two minutes before posting the same question again?

The probability of this happening is very low.

I think they have medication for that.
In any case, what you've written here makes no sense at all. Why did you not even bother to reformat it so that it did not scream HOMEWORK?

Is it possible for a program to tell if it's been launched from inside a command window or from the Windows Shell?
I would like to write a small utility that shows a GUI if it's launched from the Shell, and only a command-line interface if it's launched from a prompt.
Is this possible?

AfxMessageBox( _T("Parent is a console application"));
}
else
